Not sure what is happening, but first two mobs were immortal and just killed me. In death log it was saying I got 15 or so kills meanwhile and maybe they were stacking on eachother? It happening for me at first couple of seconds for multiple reloads and its quite confusing.
Mixing instant movements with slow turns is disorienting due to so different time each action takes. It always better to stick to one or the other.
Also mobs tend to go through the player and it also hard to understand if we are to kill them or to run away from them and even if we damage them in that possition or not.
I didn't get to the chopper :<
Always stay far away from the enemies, hit one thrice (from afar) and stop to shoot and it eventually dies, it's indeed confusing at first.
I escaped!
I was facing lags in the third level, which maked this one hard to beat. It seems the enemies are harder to just run through in this level, while in the 2 first levels shooting everything is the legit way but just running through everything generally won't get you damaged either, allowing to reach the third level quicker, but anyway I could not ever figure out what was going on here, I just randomly managed to reach the helicopter once in easy mode.
The game is very fun, the presentation is good and I am happy that you chose instant movement, thanks for sharing.
Very hard, second floor - my maximum.
Nice one, however this was kind of hard and as I am quite bad at video games, I stuggled a lot, but this is a good one. Congrats.
thank you :)
It was absolutely gorgeous but I didn’t get to see much of it. Unfortunately, the game is really difficult and I died over and over. I didn’t make it very far even on the easy difficulty. I would be interesting in playing a post jam version. Do you think you’ll make an update?
Unfortunately I probably won't as I had to really fight with the game engine. The most I'll probably do is tweak the numbers for the difficulty.
An interesting combination of crawling and military.
My laptop with RTX 3060 (and incompatible drivers with D3D12?) couldn't handle the game and fps was just about 20-30.
I found a major bug. You can go through obstacles while turning, at least the boxes on the first level.
Yeah I couldn't figure out what was causing the player to occasionally be able to get through the crates. I'm not sure what was causing the low frame rates but it's definitely something I'm looking into as a lot of people have had that problem.
I'm not seeing the theme.
I died a lot.
I died on insane level. I died on easy.
I think I'm missing something.
I did not get to the choppah.
Yeah unfortunately I didn't have time to balance the difficulty. The theme was around having to fight your own team mates turned enemies. I unfortunately ran out of time to expand this further though.
Kinda killed my laptop, should've played it on my desktop. Looks good (obviously, cause it's UE) but could've used a bit more feedback when you're hit. And enemies seem to be able to get on top of me and then you can no longer shoot them while they kill you :(
Do use a normal zip file incase anyone decides to try this on something else that isn't Windows through Proton or Wine.
Anyways!
Yeah the Unreal Engine really does make this look gorgeous especially at 1440p, but the it's weird discrepancy with the relative level of detail of the engine/lighting and the sparseness of the levels.
The instant grid movement seems to have motion blur for some reason? Which I'm sure is just due to the way the Unreal Engine works by default, it's a little disorienting.
Also I agree with @graphicsmismatch, the game does not run very well and the motion blur does not do it any favors... I have a similar setup to @graphicsmismatch.
Enemies appear to only die when their animation finishes, and if firing repeatedly at an enemy they will restart their death animation.
There is also that interesting issue of the player and enemies not obeying the same rules but it's pretty easy to kill the enemies so as long as you're paying attention it's not super difficult.
Yeah I forgot to deactivate the line trace detection on the enemies. I didn't know that .rar files are windows only so I'll definitely do a .zip next time! Although I wasn't able to build for any other operating systems this time. Thanks for the feedback :)
Cool concept, a grid based FPS. The motion blur on turn made me dizzy and the monster slipping through the camera was rough. Other than these detail a good entry. The whole look and feel was very unified.
the graphics look pretty good, however it runs really poorly on my system which id say is reasonably fast(ryzen 7 5800H, 16gb ram, rtx 3050) so i believe the game is really poorly optimized which really sucks because the visuals are pretty good. additionally, the enemies dont seem to move at the same pace as the player (continuous movement vs discrete movement) which really makes it a bit unfair. then shooting the enemies seems to do nothing(it increases my score for sure however the enemies dont seem to die). my suggestion is to tone down the graphics quality for any upcoming jams so that you dont have to deal with the problem of optimization on such a short timeframe. overall id say a good but somewhat laggy submission!
Yeah I had quite a bit of trouble with moving the player smoothly. Not sure how to remove motion blur and didn't even notice it myself. Thanks for the feedback :)
