Nice Game but very hard !
The projectile following the mouse makes it very hard to actually hit something  since you're constantly moving.

For feedbacks:

The health bar placement made me think it was the enemies health at first (maybe center it on top of the screen to avoid confusion ?).
The player controller felt a bit weird and hard to be precise with to be honest.
The light green of the alien also felt a bit off against the rest of the color palette.

Appart from that its a pretty nice game. with a bit of difficulty balancing it can be very fun.

Good work :)

Developer

Thanks for you feedback.

In term of difficulty balance yes we sure have to work on that ^^. we didn't think about the health bar placement being closer to the "boss" than the player but now that you mention it, it's sure could be confusing.

I don't really get what you mean with the mouse though normally the projectile don't go on your cursor position but follow the scrolling so it's harder to hit the boss that is following but easier for the rock that are in your way.

But thanks for you comment, appreciate.

Interesting game with a silly concept, I like it! I didn't catch that I could fire the volcanoes at stuff first couple of playthroughs so I was confused on how to get past the big rocks. When jumping there was a sweetspot you can hit to get past them without firing the rock, but it was inconsistent to hit.  Once I set back and read the page more I saw you can fire the volcano and was like ooo and it made it a lot easier!

l cant put my finger on it but there was something that felt off about the platforming movement. It was hard to be precise with it and make a lot of the landings I was going for. As such the game felt very difficult. Other than that I had a fun experience. Loved the art style! Great work!

Developer

Thanks for your feedback.

Yes we didn't put the controls on the first screen and everything so it's logical people don't assume they can play with the volcano we kinda rush the ending tbh didn't have time for game over screen and all.

and yeah I get what you mean perhaps it's the dino speed backward that is too slow you cannot really correct your mistakes not enough play test in fact only the dev had access to the build until last day ... next time we gonna put it on GDrive so everybody can test.

Thanks.

Having the game being built in a shared space is really helpful for group projects. And the more eyes you can get on the game early on can be a huge help, though with it being a game jam sometimes that can be tough to manage. All in all you guys put together a nice game though!

Developer

just want to clarify that if the music don't load please reload the page it's a gamemaker + HTML related issue.

You can play with WASD + space bar + click (for the volcano)

sorry

Love an endless runner! But it was far too hard going between the arrow keys and the mouse to get the volcano to crush the rocks. If you activated the volcano with a key that was closer to the other keys I think it would be much smoother!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback

you could play with WASD if you prefer. because with arrow key yeah you have to press space + click it's hard I didn't dare to try ^^

(tbh I don't have arrow key on my keyboard).

I tried with both, but with wasd it was harder (longer distance to the mouse). I'm not a very experienced gamer though. So maybe others are more used to that kind of fast switch ☺️

This game was really fun but I'm not going to share my high score because it's embarrassingly low. I didn't really understand the rocks (Based on the comment before mine I assume the volcano can break them but I didn't know how). There was one glitch where I went off-screen (to the left) but I didn't die (even though my health bar was going down and then refilling weirdly). Because I didn't die I was able to go forever without even playing. I'm not sure if this is fixable (nor do I know if my explanation is easy to understand) but I thought id point it out just in case you can. Besides that the art is great (I love the retro filter) and I especially love the health bar.

Developer

Thanks for playing the game and for your comment.

So we've seen this glitch last minute one or two time honestly that's probably really easy to fix but it was already too late.

And for the volcano sorry if it wasn't clear but yeah your left click to launch rocks and can break UFO obstacle and hit the boss ^^

(that's follow the scrolling so you have to aim at the right of the boss but can just click on the obstacle).

I really like your game. It's a lot of fun and I like how you got so many things to try to dodge and it's cool that the volcano can break rocks and I also managed to hit some of the alien spaceships too which was a nice surprise
