How did you incorporate the theme "INSIDE OUT"?
The game is a puzzle about turning boxes inside out to create a pattern. On a slightly more subtle note, the game's narrative is also about life turning inside out.

Cool puzzle game! I liked the concept, nice submission!

Cool game, unfortunately I’m colour blind so couldn’t play but nice idea.

Interesting puzzle game! and that was a lot of levels. "From Order" how many levels are left from there if i may know?

Developer

Thank you for playing!  Off the top of my head I think probably 6 or 7 more after From Order but don’t quote me on that 😅

I think the concept and the way it was implemented into the theme is pretty cool, even if it isn't the most original thing on planet Earth. The visuals are simple and get the job done, and the music is alright. I'm personally not a fan of it being AI-generated, but I can understand it to some degree given time constraints and other, more important aspects of game design perhaps getting in the way. The actual puzzles are rather hit or miss, though. I had difficulty figuring some of them out, and, as has been pointed out by many others, the wording on the first level on how to play was a bit confusing. There wasn't too much indication of what patterns were correct much of the time, so you kinda just had to guess your way through them. I ended up getting stuck on level 24 after I couldn't figure out the correct combination for the life of me. I think having more of a visual aid or some sort of hint button or something would massively improve this area of the game, although it might make it a bit too easy. The narrative added in was interesting, though I'm unsure if it ties into the actual game or not. Overall, it's alright, but it could be improved upon. 7/10.

I like puzzle games like that. I think it is a cool idea.
But somehow I could not do anything in level 4.
Is there a bug or did I do something wrong?

Hi, thank you for commenting!  Not sure if there was a bug, I haven't encountered one on that level but that doesn't mean much.  If there wasn't, hint for level 4--look for a 3x3 pattern that you inverted in levels 1-3.  Then after you invert it, see if you can find anything else that looks like that pattern and try to invert that!

Btw loved your game, it brought me back to old Flash games in the best way

The game is pretty relaxing, but I really don't understand the choice of making the player only able to change the colors of a "correct configuration". Maybe put a limit in the number of moves you can do each level? I had some solutions that used the same amount of moves for some levels, but it wouldn't let me do it because of the "correct configuration" rule.

Thank you so much for playing and reviewing!  Which puzzles didn’t take your solutions?  The rules behind rectangle configurations are consistent through the whole game but they can be pretty hard to figure out, and the difference between correct and incorrect is very slight at times---I didn't provide much instruction by design to keep the puzzles challenging, but I think I also might not have introduced the mechanics well enough through the puzzles.  Let me know if you'd like me to say more, I hope you'll give it another go!

Ok I've played it a little bit more in search of bugs and things that I think could be modified for a better experience, and these are the 2 main things.

1. When you complete a level, and press z without any new move on the next level, the score goes negative and the puzzle becomes impossible because it pastes the pattern from the previous level.

2. This is the easiest example of the "correct configuration" not working I was talking about:

The solution the game accepts: 1) 5a-3c, 2) 3a-1c

Another valid solution that the game does not accept: 1) 3a-1c, 2) 5a-3c

I don't know if this is a problem that only I get, because I've been playing other embedded games for this jam, and things don't work only for me for some reason.

Developer

Good catch on the z thing, I’ll have to fix that up for the post jam patch!

Regarding three-by-five, I see where your head is at but the solution you wrote doesn’t work within the game’s rules.  There’s a specific puzzle mechanic at play there that makes 3a-1c a valid rectangle but not 5a-3c.  The game isn’t just about making the pictures match—it’s a puzzle to figure out how.  I recommend replaying the second level and taking a look at what it does and doesn’t let you invert :)

Ok, I understand what the pattern is now, I was the one in the wrong. In the text on the top it isn't very clear what the "Correct configuration" is, I had to read it a couple of times to actually understand that it was the pattern in the first level.

Developer(+1)

Yeahh I realized that, I actually edited the text to "valid rectangle" just now after rereading your comments but it was too late to reupload.  That definitely could be a lot clearer, it kinda suggests that I hardcoded in solutions and expected you to guess until you found them 😅  Thank you for keeping an open mind and trying it again, and I'm sorry for the poor wording!
