Cute game!i had i similaire idea with serving cold treats but i realy love your excution especial the art and music,if there is anything i could suggest it would be polisihing the controls, still,Fun game regardless!

Developer

Yeah, we intended to do this, but didn't have enough time! Definitely something to look forward to after the jam finishes! Thanks for the feedback

I know I was making recipes right and the customer wouldn't take it. There should be some visual/audio feedback when the order is wrong rather than just snapping back as if the click and drag didn't work. amazing art!!!

Developer(+1)

We did have the plans to do a feedback system but we did run out of time to implement it, unfortunately. We even have the art assets, but Ah well it will be one of our first changes when we get back to it!

Yeah, we didn't have enough time to implement clicking for the ice cream serving, with the time constraint. For the driving, is that because there were too many turns, or drifting was unforgiving? Looking forward to improve on this feedback after the jam ends!

There is a lot of charm with this game. Especially the art! The gameplay itself felt a little cumbersome using the keyboard, maybe if a option to add in mouse control to click on items to build the cones could have helped reduced player fatigue. Over all, good little experience for the jam!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your feedback! We had originally planned for a control scheme that involved both the keybinds or clicking on the ingredients for whatever worked better for the player, but unfortunately time and other events did not permit us to do so. Adding the click functionality is high on our priority list, and it’s good to know that it’s needed!

Submitted

It just makes it more streamline, if you are going for a more "immersive controlled" game, then the setup you have is good!

Submitted

The art is really charming and the music suits the game as well. I think the controls could use a little work in the serving portion. Maybe keeping the keybinds onscreen the whole time by default would be useful. Other than that, nice work!

Developer

Thanks for playing our game! We’re gonna work on realigning our keybind display as it is indeed glitched and adding more accesible functionality!

I love love LOVE the art and all the cute little jelly guys! They're awfully picky on how they want their ice cream for someone who is literally dying without it though, lol.

I like the driving part, that's pretty fun. But during the part where you serve them, there are just wayy too many buttons for me to find and keep track of while the poor little guys are melting away. T-T

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your feedback! I’m glad you liked the art, and unfortunately the jellies may not recognize how dire their need is (especially since some of them love standing in the middle of a busy busy road, somehow just waiting for a car to drive on over them).

Also a click and build system was something we were going to add but unfortunately did not have time. We will work on it though so that hopefully it’s more intuitive!

I love the title screen where you see the cute slimey aliens, they're really the stars of this game! The art of the icea cream truck and the cone mountains in the background are really cool.

I also liked how they slowly melt while waiting for their ice cream, and how the freeze theme was tied into the narrative. Apart from customers slowly melting, the gameplay doesn't really involve the freeze theme though in my opinion. The idea of the main game is also essentially a single-player version of Overcooked, which is fun, but also not necessarily a fresh idea.

For the controls I first tried clicking the ingredients and stuff, maybe you could think about this input method in the future. I think it might be more intuitive. Since you need the key controls from the start, you might also consider just always displaying them, I found myself constantly having to press space anyways.

And finally, for the art I would suggest going for either pixel art or non-pixel art, to my taste it looks better than if you mix the two. You could also look into "mixels", which is when you mix resolutions between or within sprites of pixel art. It happens a lot on this game, and in pixel art it usually avoided because it looks less like a unified visual style!

I have given a lot of criticism, but this game deserves a lot of praise as well. There are two main parts, cute art that is quite unified in terms of colors, nice music and sound effects, and for a game made in 9 days it's quite good! Especially with what seems to be the largest team of the whole game jam. Nice job coordinating everything and producing a whole game together!!

Alora/CozkaStudio did a fantastic work on our little alien jellies and the background! We knew the theme would be a bit of stretch but we appreciate the feedback, and yes we were playing for a safer idea since it was a lot of our first or very early jam experiences.

As originally planned, we will most likely add a click-to-build mechanic as soon as we are able and having the keybinds realigned and displayed always because we’ve got feedback from multiple folks in that regard. Our thinking behind the art was leaning into our two artists were good at stylistically and portioning their task load as such. Though, thank you for noting about the “mixel” resolution as that gives us something to do with tuning the resolutions and scaling for that portion.

We appreciate the in-depth review!

My AZERTY keyboard makes it difficult to play (as with many others games using QWERTY), but at last it works and you manage to fix the bug. Congrats 😘

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! I'm sorry you didn't get to experience our full submission, but I hope you still liked what we showed off!

Submitted

Yeah, it s a cute game, my keyboard gives kinda extra level of challenge :D

Developer(+1)

Woahh, that layout never crossed my mind. I will ensure AZERTY support for every project I work on moving forward. Thank you so much for letting us know :)

Submitted(+1)

To add to this, I was using QWERTZ and I didn't know at first why I couldn't place the colorful sprinkles :) I had to press Y instead of Z to do it (on mine I think Y and Z are switched compared to US and UK keyboards).

Developer(+2)

Dropping my high score 💪💪

Developer(+3)

I am absolutely delighted to say that after 2 independent playtests of our new branch, the customer service portion of the game is now fully functional. These frosty and friendly jellies are now truly ready for their Desert Dessert!

Submitted(+3)

Cool looking game! As for the bug, that’s a feature, now all the ice cream is for myself muahaha.

Developer

Lol, thank you! That’s definitively one way to look at it 😂

Submitted(+3)

I played it again! Man, I really crave some ice cream now, those looked delicious!

Also, I fell for the quit on webGL message, good one.

The title art looks so good and the letters story is pretty interesting! I would say I think the game is bugged as the others had mention, as the aliens show up for a bit then disappeared and I'm left with a sandbox of ice cream choices. Unless I missed something, I was really excited to make some ice cream for these little guys.

Developer(+1)

You did not miss anything, it is unfortunately bugged but we will have it fixed soon after the jam rating period ends! Thanks for the feedback!

Submitted(+1)

On Discord, Manisha mention that people can now reupload their game to fix game breaking bugs. Should definitely do a fix before more people miss out on playing this!

Submitted

Update to my previous post: Got to play the bug free version and its a lot of fun, glad you reminded me of the fix! I would say maybe having a wrong indication sound when giving the incorrect Ice cream as I had a few moments where I was so confused why they weren't taking it until I realize it needed sprinkles. Nice work on the game!

I like the premise, and the graphics are great!

but either the Aliens timers are way to short or I am running into a bug where they are only there for a fraction of a second before leaving me alone with a half made icecream

Developer(+1)

The alien timers are set to definitely be a bit difficult to meet, but regardless of whether it is a bug or difficulty feedback, we appreciate you letting us know!

Submitted(+1)

Pretty sure it's a bug, they really only show up for a split second and then you are just left with an empty window and the ice cream supplies haha. Great presentation though!
