Theme (enemy)

Yuwal

Correlation to theme
I tried to give the song an oppressive, dark atmosphere that matches up to the design of the monster. I focused on three aspects: Evilness, Aggression, and an ominous air of elegance/divinity. These are three things that I tried to convey in the track. Here's some lore text to SET THE STAGE: You arrive at your destination. You stand before a great chapel. This is the end of your journey. You can feel the unrelenting malevolence of an evil presence within the hallowed structure. The cultists have beat you here, and the ritual is underway. You enter the building and find that you are too late. A great stain spreads across the chapel grounds. A portal is manifesting, threatening to swallow the entirety of the building like a hungry ocean. The path has been opened. The evil one is back. Yuwal emerges from the darkened depths beyond the portal. Now is the time to take a stand against evil. Only one will leave this building -- You, or Yuwal.

These tempo changes are really cool and well executed! The vibe's on point as well, and the song is quite varied. My only nitpick is with some of the dissonant melody parts but other than that is a great song!

I like the story, it always adds a lot to the experience. There is a lot of creativity here, with the three or four different phases. And you made a sick change from 8/8 to something like 12/8 at 1:40, I love time signature changes. In my opinion, the (third?) section at 0:46 does feel a bit too laid-back, too up-beat and chill for an evil presence arriving. I don't know what makes it so up-beat, as I imagine it is still written in the minor scale. Overall though, I love the varying sections and it fits with Yuwall and the story behind it. Well done :D

There is an intro, and three phases. The entirety of the song is actually in 3/4, although I toy around with the time signature by mixing in 4/4 elements, such as the drum beat being a 4/4 drum beat, and some notes being in 4/4 against a 3/4 bassline. The segment at 0:46 is meant to represent the courage to face Yuwal. It's the human aspect of having to face this demon, and having the hope to stand against it.  Thanks! :D

I am very curious how a sheet music would look with this "3/4 and 4/4 mix"! And... if you mix in 4/4 elements and 3/4 elements, why not just make the song in 12/8? Doesn't that solve all your problems? Either way, the transition (at least it felt like a transition) was very smooth, so good job :)

Really love the instrument (I think guitar?) that comes in around the :45 mark. Also, the drums go hard!

I like that the song sounds more hopeful at the beginning than just purely evil to demonstrate that it is the final battle and there is light afterwards if you win.

Yeah! The intro gives me goosebumps, and the change to dyphonic vocals at 1:30 is a really good idea!

Great job!
