Nice game concept. Very clean implementation.

I love the sound design. Reminds me of Stardew Valley a lot!

Easy improvement suggestions:
- Add background music.
- Allow seeing a little bit further beneath the water while traveling in the boat.

Harder improvement suggestion:
The gameplay doesn't lend itself to much feeling of progression. While there are upgrades for sale and you must buy them to fish deeper, the core game loop isn't changed in any way. Once the player understands how to move, fish, and whether to click the Eat/Sell button, there is no new progression really offered that forces the player to learn something new, do something different, or reach a higher level of mastery. One way to add more progression might be to make the new fishing rod control differently... Or add some hazard or threat besides hunger.

Those are my thoughts. This is a very polished gameplay demo, and with some gameplay evolution, this could become a really cool and beloved game!

I like it a lot, simple mechanics and really fun to catch fish on the water.
More lures for sure and more fish would be my take, also if the boat moves while fishing would be awesome.
Good job!

This game is surprisingly addictive! I kept going until I could upgrade my fishing pole to go deeper :)

As a suggestion, some way to control the lure after it's in the water would be good. I couldn't quite tell if pressing the arrow keys did anything..

Really grate concept! I just ask you to polish your shop ui, as I didn't understand that new deeper rod has been selected for a some time
Survival and fishing... develop this masterpiece :)

Fun little fishing game. The controls worked well, but a hint as how and when to move the boat would help. Game play and sounds might become a bit repetitive, but that's probably a matter of taste. More types of fish could be cool. I liked the different depths and this memory game style: where are the good fishes, somewhere left, okay let's go there, but how much (I have to remember that...)

You caught Dick!
I enjoyed this little game - short but satisfying and I couldn't stop playing until I had tried all rods and caught all of the different species.

This is great! Very simple and relaxing! Also pixel art FTW!

Feedback:

  • Took me a few minutes to realize you could move the boat!
  • Simple to the point - gives me my upgrade fix - could ALWAYS use more upgrades if you expand in the future.
  • Not overly complicated fishing mechanic that works. Satisfying catch.
  • Again if looking to expand in the future perhaps some difficulty catching certain species or certain ways the hooks need to entice them. For the scope it is its perfect now though.
  • Love the progression getting to deeper waters...you actually don't see that in many fishing games.

Nicely done Paul.
