  • Really nice art, it looks well polished. I could not figure out how to play tho. I could trag cards in there and place buildings, it seemed to be real time and turn based at the same time, but I have no idea what was the impact of what I was doing. Were those bleu spaces enemies ? Was I supposed to fight them ? The text was very small and hard to read + scrolling the mouse to zoom would mess up the itch page. I couldn't find any way of playing full screen and it somehow felt like it was the intended way of playing it. It's a shame could the games looks and might be fun if I understood what was going on.

Did you work alone, or as part of a group? (If in a group, list their names)

I like the art style. A tutorial would've been nice and maybe the text a little bigger because I wasn't sure on what to do besides dragging buildings onto the map.

Pretty good start and the presentation is solid so far, though I seemed to be stopped after a certain point.

Thank you means a lot. I just run into some personal matters that effected the project.

I got kinda softlocked at some point, there was one more open tile and I wasn't allowed to place anything there, and I'm not sure why. However, the simple act of placing cards and expanding your town that way was really satisfying. Although I didn't fully grasp the gameplay, I do like the simplicity of this and would gladly jump back in. Got me excited at least!

Developer

Yeah, I haven’t completely resolved the card placement issue, and the game is overly simplified, missing many of its core mechanics. Now that I’ve finished dealing with personal matters, I’ll complete it after the game jam. Your feedback means a lot!!

Cool to see others use Gdevelop!

Developer

Yeah :D. It will always be my favorite game engine.

I played for a bit, I think I have a grasp of your general direction with your game.

The visuals are really great, it's a pleasure for the eyes and even though there no combat and no challenge to the player's expansion yet,  it's really fun to try and optimize your placements between your buildings and the hexes like the wheat fields.

The cards were a bit hard to read for me, I found the text a little too small, and the numbers of the IU (meat, gold, etc) were not aligned to their respective label, but that's easily corrected.

It's not directly related to your game, but on your game page on itch, I think you forgot to check the option that allows the player to make it fullscreen. Because of that, it was bit harder to play and see the cards. If you haven't already, you should edit your game page and check that option, it will make things easier and it doesn't count as modifying your game in regard to the jam rules.

There's something I'm not sure I understood : on one hand you have an "end turn" button, but on the other it seems like after you've played your cards, you can wait indefinitely and reap some bonuses every X seconds. Is the end turn button used only to draw more cards? If so, those cards could be drawn automatically once you've played your current hand.

All in all, even if it's unfinished, I think it's very solid and interesting as a concept, I would very much love to see how far you will take it should you decide to continue working on it. As a fellow gdevelop user I can tell there's some impressive programming under the hood, you can definitely make this shine. Thanks for sharing your game!

Thank you so much for your valuable feedback! I truly appreciate it. I’m committed to addressing all the points you’ve highlighted. Regarding the text alignment issue, I’ve noticed it only occurs when exporting the game as HTML; rest assured, it’s perfectly aligned in the screenshots. Additionally, I haven’t yet made the UI dynamic for full-screen mode, as personal commitments have limited my time for project development. However, I’m actively working on resolving these issues and enhancing the overall experience.

It's always hard to evaluate entries like these but it's fun to tinker with even if I'm not entirely sure how the game is meant to progress, and you put a lot of effort into the presentation, which helps a lot

Thank you for your valuable feedback! Regrettably, I encountered some personal challenges that impacted my capacity to fully materialize the game’s core concept. Nevertheless, I submitted it so I can see what other made and get a small feedback on the game.
