A solid game. The restarting bug is a bit annoying, but the core mechanics are fine. Really nice graphics!
Nice, but movement mechanics feel imprecise and that's very important for platformer.
I would like to see more of this game! I really enjoyed the comic book aesthetic. But I think I may have found a bug when restarting the game as it seems it always goes to the death scene.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! There were quite a few bugs with the menu transitions it seems. I could have had three or four more levels in the time I spent working on that menu. XD
Nice intro, I liked the exploration feeling. And it's always nice to see games made with godot <3
Great game the ui was amazing!
Fun platformer with lots to collect! The slipperiness and speed of the movement kind of reminded me of Jazz Jackrabbit.
The saws could be easier to see.
Styling is great!
Glad you liked it! Jazz Jackrabbit was a big influence on the gameplay.
Such a huge and immersive level to play! Nice job! The light system made me really nervous about what happens next! Love the beginning, very comic book!
The introduction is a really nice touch. I like the overall graphical appearance of the game. The controls are a little tricky to master, but I eventually got there. Really love the soundtrack here, spacey and minimal. A great effort in such a short time!
Dang this is a really awesome game, I'm surprised more people haven't played and reviewed this yet! The player feels nice to move around and shoot enemies, collecting the coins are a lot of fun and well separated, the comic book style and lighting in the game makes it look amazing! I only ran into a couple of bugs in the game and I'm not sure if some of them we're intentional or not. (When you shoot collectibles, they fall and when you die and go to the menu and start a new game, it goes back to the score count screen) Great work though and I hope you expand upon this game!
Thanks for the feedback!
"when you die and go to the menu and start a new game, it goes back to the score count screen"
That sounds like a bug. I had a lot of issues with the comic book style scene changes and made a few too many shortcuts for time. I already spent a week of the jam working on the menu instead of the game. XD
Stuff falling when you shoot it is intentional, a lot of the gameplay is based on Jazz Jackrabbit 2, which does the same thing with collectibles. Just an interaction I always liked and wanted to recreate for absolutely no gameplay reason, lol.
I can't even play this. The comic artstyle was nice and the idea behind the game is good, but everything else is.. below average. The UI is blurry, the game itself is so buggy, I'd say there aren't that many insects in my garden's soil. The into screen has to be played every time you either lose or go to the main menu, which can only be accessed by taping through the comic cutscene. The level design does't have much to offer, nor does the gameplay. The art is ok and the music is a good touch. I recommend lower the players hp because, even in easy mode, it's too easy. All and all this is a below average entry for me. But well done anyway.
I'm sorry you encountered bugs in a game jam game. Would you mind explaining what they were? I don't know why the UI would be blurry for you for one, that sounds like a bug.
I'm confused, you said easy mode is too easy? The intro is also skipable through the industry standard ESC button, and the menu can opened and closed with the same method. I apologize if that was confusing.
I'm sorry for my overly aggressive and over the top review, the game doesn't really have that many bugs and yah lol, the easy game mode is supposed to be easy.
No worries, I can see how the intro could be annoying. It's an unfortunate last minute fix for an engine bug I encountered. After restarting the level too many times, the lighting would permanently break. There's no reason I can find for it, but when restarting the whole game it doesn't happen, so I had to change the code at the last minute, or the game really did become unplayable.
I loved the comic intro! Very well done on that, the game itself was sweet and simple. Good job!
