29:00 Moon War Z
Gameplay: The controls were good. The fighting and the slopes were a bit weird.
Graphics: The graphics were really good! One thing I would like is if the explosions were behind the player so you could see him.
Audio: Music would have been nice. SFX's were good though.
Innovation: Pretty good.
Theme: The Moon makes the Earth stable. Any instability of the Moon requires immediate action. A hero rises to save it with a single moonshot chance.
Overall: Really good game!
Can you try (and comment) on my game?
The graphics and audio were nice, but I couldn't manage to get pass some of the 45° slopes...
I really like the art style and platformer gameplay. Nice that you supported a gamepad. It did seem quite hard (but from reading comments below I guess that is what you were going for). I would have liked a little more range on the jumps and better control on the 45-deg slopes. Also more range on attacks while we're at it. :)
You might like to try our platformer game - the jump mechanics are quite different though (to go with the main character design).
I like the way you mixed genres/gameplay, have some dialogues and a story, and divide the game into different sections.
Having said that, the gameplay itself is rough and doesn't feel right. I'll spare you the details, cause you probably got this a lot.
The sound effects are a bit loud and annoying. Graphically, the artstyle lacks consistency. You have some nice explosions and effects (the pool shader), but they don't fit too well with the other parts. Animations are too long sometimes or get cut short, enemy shadows aren't below enemies, hit effects are too small to be readable and don't provide much feedback (and there's no hitstop, screenshake, or something else in place of that).
It's a complete game though, and that's a lot. I played it from start to finish, which says that even with those flaws the game interested me and managed to surprise me. So good job :)
Cool concept! I made it through the end and I really enjoyed! I love that you have three different levels each one with different mechanics and perspective, nice!
Just to mention that I had a bit of trouble using the jumping properly in the first level, ending up many times in the spikes :S. Also I would like to comment, that it was very difficult to hit enemies without getting hit back, I think tuning this a bit will add a lot to the gameplay.
Good game overall! well done!
The explosions, missiles and some animations looked really good, but as most people pointed out, the gameplay is very rough. It felt very slippery, and the attack had almost no range. The ogre boss thing was also relentless, I felt like there was nothing I could do to beat it. But yeah, other than that, you had a lot of things going on at the same time, lots of content and a lot of things animated. I especially liked the dialogue letters animations, they are always a nice touch on games that use them. Good job!
Overall, an extremely hard game in the platformer part, in part because I'm terrible at platformers, but mostly because the slopes not being traversable really limited your options. I liked the multitudinous enemies and so forth. One thing I think it really needed was a bit of subtle music playing during the scene so that it could bring the spookiness to life. I really liked the game over all though, good work! Bonus points for Godot!
Thanks for playing the game. It's made purposefully hard. But I agree, the slopes could've been done in a better way. As for the sound track, I agree. We only had literally few hours to compile everything on the last day. Could've done much better sound tracks had we had he time. Appreciate the feedback.
Good job! You've got an impressive amount of content for a jam game with three different minigames!
As others mentioned the controls don't feel so great in the platformer section, it's hard to go on slopes and for something that needs precise timing to avoid falling into spikes, that can be a bit frustrating. Similarly the attack animation doesn't really show the range of the attack, so most of the time I ended up bumping into enemies (thus losing health) before I could land a hit.
Still, it works fairly well and I could beat the game! 40-something Zombliens in 50-something lives :)
The artwork is fairly good, and contrarily to others I didn't struggle too much finding the items (I avoided Zombliens since they would easily overwhelm me and kill me in 1 s, as there doesn't seem to be a grace period after a hit so they accumulate).
I had a good chuckle with the story :D
I like the graphics and the sounds, but the controls need a little work.
Hey — I found all the items! That level was really, really hard. Also, the bird in the beginning wrecked me more times than I care to admit. But all is well now. I killed 62 Zombliens and I only died 118 times. Good job!
Thanks for playing the game! Yes, we totally agree. Searching for the items is a bit too difficult with too many Zombliens. Maybe we should simplify the searching process by having the player only search inside specific boxes instead of random items, or we could just tune down the number of Zombliens. Thanks for your comments!
