Theme interpretation
Moonshot was a very inspiring theme, it brought us to the concept of loss, the impossibility of reaching someone you care about and the inevitability of some events.

Impressive! The graphics, animation, sound effects, music and gameplay are all incredibly well done!

I managed to beat the game though I'll admit it took me some time to figure out how to build a ship that could beat the game (and to understand how important boost is, since many obstacles can't be passed without it).

I'm looking forward to see Chapter 2 and 3!

Thank you so much! I'm quite done on fixing the bugs and writing the intro! I'm confident on doing a huge patch soon :D

It's awesome to see another game where you build your ship! The building part was intuitive, although it took me a while to understand that the red shaded ship parts mean they can't be built. I also could never figure out how to make the fin for the right side. The graphics in the level itself are gorgeous, particularly the animations of the cracks appearing. It looks almost like film animation. It had a throwback 50s space vibe to it (that reminded me a little bit of Earthworm Jim?) I don't think it was too difficult, but it does require slow, careful flying that players may not be prepared for.

If you want to see another take on ship building, check out my entry.

Really amazing graphics and audio, also the idea of building your own rocket is awesome, but I find the collisions too unforgiving for the course, specially when you have to restart from the very beginning every time you fail. A bit more of explanation in the building area would help. But it's a very well made game, no doubt. I hope to see more in the future! Congrats!

Developer

Thanks so much! I'm working on adding a lot more indications and tips! Making it easier is also in my radar <3

This is really well done! Loved it! Did find the obstacle course a bit unforgiving though, but really nicely made! Find my gameplay review below:

Wooo thank you! I loved the video, it was kinda embarassing to see all those bugs haha

Amazing graphics and audio. I found the gameplay very difficult, and even though I knew where the cracks would form I was having difficulty due to the ship handling. It seems like a game where you just need to learn where the cracks come from; perhaps giving some indication of where the cracks are going to form, to give the player some time to get out of the way, would feel more fair. Overall though I think it's a very promising base if you chose to develop it further.

Developer

Thank you so much, and yes I'm planning on developing some more! I'll definitely put some more indications in the next patch!

Great concept, graphics and sound. I like the overall design of the game. Although it seems that it is a bit hardcore — I did not always have time to dodge the cracks and appeared suddenly (BTW, how are the cracks growing? Is this a procedural?)

Developer(+1)

Thanks! The cracks are actually animated sprites fixed in place: they are triggered by the player proximity, also they have multiple collision polygons activated (and deactivated) based on the current frame of the animation (e.g. Collision_6 will activate on the 6th frame and so on)

To build your own ship is a great idea! I love the notebook look and overall artwork, it is beautiful.

I had a bit of trouble with the control trying to dodge the obstacles during the gameplay. Maybe because the layout of the ships that I built.

Well done!

Developer(+1)

Glad you liked it! The cracks are no joke to dodge actually. True, the layout of the ship matters quite a bit, but they are a little pain no matter what (some of them more than others)

Wao I built my own ship, very interesting idea! I really like the graphics and sound, nice work!

Developer

Thank you! <3

It's always cool to play with something we built and you do it as a very cool way !
I just had a few crashes when I click  on "I have to change something"

Developer

Thank you, I'm happy how ther built your ship mechaninc turned out actually!

I'm sorry for the "I have to change something" bug, it's very annoying :'D

Really great ship-building mechanic. Worked very well.

Loved the graphics and the audio.

Cool gameplay, just hard, which is fine.

Great game :)

Developer

Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it!

Very nice visuals! Loved the hand drawn artwork and very cool concept to have the player build their own ship from the parts!

Sadly I wasn't able to progress very far, the game gets hard really quick! There's no indication of when the cracks are coming so the ones that spawn lower down in the screen are almost impossible to dodge. I kept dying to those ones over and over and finally gave up after a few tries. The game also stopped working for me when I tried to go back to the ship building screen (played the WebGL build on Chrome).

Would like to try the game again once these issues are fixed. I really wanna unlock other parts and make cool ship designs! And I'd love to see what other environment art you've done!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I felt like the cracks didn't really warn the player where they are gonna spawn, i'll look into that.

I'm sorry for the "i have to change something" bug, it's on the browser build and it's nasty to fix, but i will eventually!

The game tends to freeze when I try to go back and edit my ship (I'm on PC) but I love the style and the create-your-own-ship mechanic is amazing and unique- I just wish there was some way to tell your other stats other than fuel/shields, like how much propulsion does or the wings. Other than that, a very beautiful and stylized game with great atmosphere.

Developer

Thanks! I'm glad I got the atmosphere, I was running out of time and couldn't finish every art as I planned.

I agree about some sort of indicators for speed and manovrability, it isn't very clear atm.

The browser version has those weird problems :( I'll try to fix them in the future

Unfortunately it crashed a couple of times (on mac). Other than that, it’s a really cool idea. The cracks drawings and sound effects are really satisfying :D

Developer

Oh no, i can't actually test on mac, i'll try to find and fix the problem though. Thanks for the feedback <3
