Very impressive looking game and I love the style, kind of reminds me of 'A Short Hike'. I'm surprised you created a game this good looking in the jam. I finished the game but I only spoke to the character in the church, I didn't realise there were more people to talk to 🤦

This is a really cute game!

The puzzles were a bit obscure... I could figure out the doors through trial and error, but I'm not sure if I ever could have figured out the candles without the screenshot/these comments revealing the answer. Is there a hint somewhere in the room that I missed?

I also accidentally glitched out of bounds twice... once while I was searching through the graveyard, once in the altar room.

I'm not sure if the ending was supposed to be an ominous start to a longer story about the supernatural, or if it's a comedic "we played with candles and accidentally burned down the church, whoops".

The artstyle is amazing!!!

Developer

thanks so much I appreciate the feedback!

i'll definitely work on making the instructions clear in future versions

to solve the puzzles you have to talk to the characters (by pressing the interact button around them)..

like for the candle puzzle, talking to the "???" character will give you hints and eventually just give you the answer, without talking to him there's no way of knowing what to do!

and you actually summed it up perfectly, it's both! The story will take a darker turn but it's always going to have that comedic element about it..

Love the visuals! Very cute game. Some more variety of bgm would make it even nicer. I was kinda confused and stuck for a while cus didn't realize enter is the key I needed to click xD

Also how do I do the candle puzzle xD, tried to dim all the lights first, then put on all the lights, then leave 2 candles lighted, but didn't work...xD

Developer(+1)

thanks so much, I greatly appreciate the feedback!

i'll make sure to improve the key-mapping for the interact key.

..and you have to light the candles with 2 flames! (solution may be in the second screenshot as well) :p

This is super cute! Definitely interested to see how it develops.

One bit of minor feedback: I originally tried playing on a gamepad, and the movement worked just fine, but there didn't seem to be any button mapped to interact, and had to switch to keyboard to continue.

Developer(+1)

oh cool I didn't even know it worked on a gamepad!

(It's just keyboard at the moment, but i'm going add in more button mappings eventually..)

thanks so much!

This game is so beautiful, the little details are incredible, the grass movement, the fact the player is looking to the face of the nearby NPCs, the right choice of shader and consistency over the art during the entire game.

Saying all of that I have some feedback, at the end I got confused, I will try my best to not spoil it here. Feels like there is an alternative ending because you get in stuck in a loop and there is still an NPC outside in need of help. I don’t know if there is a way to continue the NPC his story line, but it felt frustrating to not being able to help him.

I got strong Ocarina of Time’s lost wood vibes in the late puzzle and again I loved the lighting and the art style choice. I wish there was more game to play and a way to use the camera, I would definitely play more and happily explore this world.

Thanks a lot for the Linux build it worked great, you should upload it at itch.io page.

All the best!

Oh wow thank you so much!

I'm surprised the build actually worked, and i'm  glad you liked it

Also, I greatly appreciate the extensive feedback

And you're right! the side quest goes nowhere... My whole plan for the game jam portion of the game was only half finished. I was testing out npc wandering and dialogue so I decided to leave that little guy in. He doesn't do much else, or even have a house yet haha.

If I manage to make the full game, there will definitely be a resolution to this side quest, along with many others and whole town to explore!

(...and more Zelda inspired puzzles!)

Soooo beautiful. It looks like you worked really hard on it. Amazing visuals and atmosphere. I had the same problem as Mad Mushroom and didn't know what to do after the bridge, but then read the comments and finished the game. Awesome. Maybe just clearer directions would help not get lost.

Developer(+1)

thank you so much! I really appreciate the feedback :D

I will definitely make sure to make the directions clearer in the later versions.

I also think some of the confusion comes from the fact that I didn't manage to finish what I originally planned to during the jam (gosh.. I barely had time to do half of what I wanted) .  so it's basically just a collection of loose ends at the moment!

Awesome graphics, good music and SFXs. It seems to have lots of potential!

Very pretty game, I liked it a lot! The lighting made it have a great atmosphere. I especially liked the "maze" in the tunnels and the riddle in the end was clever.
Two small nitpicks: I would've liked the mouse to be locked inside the frame and a prompt to press enter in front of the church door.

Developer

oh gosh thank you for this

I especially appreciate the nitpicks, those are great ideas i'll make sure to add them in

why does this looks sooo good?  love the vibe and the style, sadly i got stuck after the bridge confused on where to go.

Developer(+1)

aw I appreciate this! thank you

after crossing the small bridge on the right half of the map you can go inside the church (just go up to the door and press [enter] ^^ )... the whole story segment starts there
