Holy moly this game had more content than my tiny brain could imagine! What a joy to play! So well done, so much to do! I’m amazed and just how much is here and how well this game plays out. Fun idea, great theme, so many sounds, so many animations, just a real joy to play. Great work! I loved the writing, and I really feel like the difficulty was just right for a jam - challenging encounters, with plenty of health pickups to keep you going. And a final boss too?! Incredible. I loved the little interlude with the other fungi XD I mean this game had it all, brilliantly done!

What a great game! I didn't complete it yet but I will when I have enough time. I liked the humor, it has nice graphics and smooth gameplay. Looks like you aimed for the stars with this and reached it in just a months work, amazing.

That was crazy good. Super ambitious game. Looks beautiful, sounds great, plays well, and it's really funny at times. I have no big criticisms to give, I could have played this game for a long time if it kept going. This is one of the best games I've seen so far! Nicely done!

5 stars for me!! This is hands down one of the most fun game to play. Nothing is missing: cool powers, a very innovative plot (and I watched those fungus parasite documentary before, very nasty on ants!) everything made sense to me. Fantastic job

Small request, could you do a quick control mapping for different type of keyboard? I still managed to finished the game but I was a bit struggling with my french keyboard :) thanks

Developer (1 edit)

First of all thank you for your raving review :)  It's so nice to know that it's been fun and it is a great motivation to try making more games!

Supporting different keyboard layouts is a really important suggestion and it turns out that it was easy to implement with the new Godot 3.4. I don't know about the rules for updating the page while the reviews are still open so I've uploaded the new exe to Github instead.
Check it out here.

I've tried it with AZERTY and it works perfectly. After the jam we'll push this to the itch.io page.

This is a very impressive game. The graphics were very immersive and the mechanics were great too. I liked the variety of the enemies, although the final boss was actually a bit easier than the previous enemies.

Story-wise I really enjoyed playing as the "bad guy", even though I felt a bit sorry for the ants. Wonder what happened to the ant in the middle of the rocks by the end.

Developer

Thank you for playing to the end and thank you kindly for your positive feedback!

As to the ant in the middle of the arena:

That is a good question! After a brave scouting ant had passed on to the queen that a RaGiNG cordyceps was headed their way, she has made preparations for a fight. In case of an encounter her personal antertainer would be tasked with being the shot caller in the arena.

Due to the antertainer's tendency to overuse cheap puns he had a poor reputation within the colony. This is why he was dropped off in the middle of the arena and tightly surrounded with pebbles. He won't be missed.

wonderful 5 stars! Thoroughly loved it.

Ran a little janky at times though, especially in the arena.

Ends a bit abruptly, but this was neat and had a lot more content than I expected!

I've heard of this fungus before and it's crazy! Interesting to see how you made a game based on it. Nice game. The intro cut-scene is a nice touch - really makes it looked polished.

LOVE the audio - that opening scene is sublime! Love the dialogue & artwork, amazing concept! Nailed it :)

I enjoyed so much! The story is well structured and reasoned to fight against fellow ants. The queen ant was tuned great for me. It was very difficult at the beginning but not at the impossible extent - it took me 4-5 times to beat it, which was satisfying. fANTastic job!

I had a lot of fun with this game. The gameplay is really polished and I like that there are several enemy types. The art is great, it looks really clean and the colors compliment each other well. I thought the dialogue was pretty funny too. Overall, this is a great game!
