Game description
Hack servers, find vulnerabilities, use people's secrets to uncover more accounts and build a network of pwned machines.

Theme interpretation
Core gameloop - hacking one server, then movingaround the file-system looking for files that reveal secrets that uncover the passwords for OTHER servers, so the player expands over time.

Early hand-written missions involve speaking to NPCs and extracting secret passwords from them.

Thematically ... secret corporations and secret NPCs (but I only had time to implement one of them!)

Wildcards used (optional)

Cheat Mode

Let players break the rules with things like infinite lives or invincibility

This is quite a huge undertaking for a game jam, I'm quite impressed! I won't lie, I did had to rely on the video you posted below the game to go through it, but still it was fun. The mix between playing with the command line and talking to people in plain language is quite fun. Other than that, the music was fitting and the stories behind each character quite well thought of. Good job!

I studied to be a sysadmin, and this game brought back all the Cisco Packet Tracer nightmares: emulators, crashes, and ancient computers — pure nostalgia (┬┬﹏┬┬)
That said, the game is really interesting, and everything works well (though ls and cd commands didn’t work for me). Great job! 👍

Thanks! It's not very obvious, but the early servers you encounter are deliberately missing all the unix commands, it's only the later servers that have a full bash shell, and then ls, cd, cat, ... etc implemented.

Wow, wow, such a cool interpretation of the theme and excellent execution! The music is amazing and so well-crafted. Thank you for the game!

Cool Game, loved the music, it just takes some time to get used to the mechanics

Reminds me of Grey Hack and hack_me. Good job! The music is very enjoyable. I think passwords in the terminal should be hidden and the NPCs should send messages slower, I was confused at first when "cd" and "ls" commands didn't work in the usual terminal, also installing apps out of nowhere looks scary, like the system is hacked... or is it? It'd be nice to have very necessary commands like "neofetch", "lolcat" or "cmatrix", and maybe multiplayer or something like that.

An amazing, immersive, and deep experience. I’d never played anything like it before, so it took me a bit to figure out the mechanics... but after that, I couldn’t stop! The chats were hilarious. Great job!

Very cool hacking game! I was impressed by the gameplay and the thought put into the design. Nice work!

very fun game! reminds me a lot of hacknet and uplink. You polished this so well. I love that the cmd line actually looks real, and that you can copy paste from all the various windows. Resizable and repositionable windows are really nice touch too.  The chat is so funny to be honest (yes I did insult everyone I talked with), and the radio is a nice feature. I did spam keywords at some point to get a response from my uncle and cousin, but no complaints there.

I'm just sad there isn't more of the game to play, it felt quite short even for a game jam. There are so many apps to use but I didn't end up using a lot of them. I read below that you removed a lot of missions because they were too complex, which makes me sad but I understand. That would also explain why there are many apps that aren't too useful. I did notice that the pet of your cousin changes with every run, which is a nice feature hehe.

Well done! Keep up the good work.
