Game description
A game about finding all about a wizard's secrets to his power.

Theme interpretation
The theme influenced my creation by influencing the story as the player has to find the secret of the wizard. Also it influenced the introduction to gameplay mechanics as the player learns mechanics through 'secret magic'

The input detection seems broken for the attack animation: cursor keys move immediately, but there's a long pause when hitting space or clicking mouse, so that you can't actually attack enemies, you have to walk away from them and then hit attack when you're distant.  If that's deliberate it makes the game very difficult, and I'd recommend putting a 'build up' animation to at least show you've recognised the input even if the character isn't going to attack for another 1 second or so. Liked the graphics and SFX a lot.

Congrats on submitting on time — no easy feat! Nice presentation overall, but I found the difficulty too high and kept dying.

Congrats on your first jam! For me as a very casual gamer, the difficulty was sort of crazy. It feels like maybe you figured out exactly how to get through it, but to me, it felt like I kept dying because I just didn't know where the next enemy was going to come from. I see a few other people saying that the attacks felt a little slow, and I'd agree with that. I felt like I was mostly running away, and then trying to attack only when absolutely necessary.

However, the fact that you progressively gave the player new ways to attack kept me pushing through to what felt like the final level. Unfortunately, I just didn't have the control to beat that, but kept trying a few times.

Great job!

Thank you so much for the feedback! I definitely see what you mean with the slow attacks. I'll be sure to fix that thx

This was a fun one- the graphics and art were nice and I liked the escalating challenge. It def made sense to just run away most of the time, maybe a lesson about how it is unproductive to pick fights hehe. Great job, nice package with the art/sound/animation.

Developer

thanks!

Congratulations on completing your first jam! ! The music and pixel animations are nice, but each attack pauses for too long, and my attack frequency was much slower than the monsters.

Developer

thanks for the comment! ill make sure to make the combat less slow the next time i do a gamejam

Found it a bit glitchy too.

I find the fight with the golems too hard.  But the game would be almost perfect otherwise!

Developer

oh what you were supposed to do was run not fight but i shouldve made that more clear. thanks tho

So that’s it! I also misunderstood

Woah! I have a couple of comments for you. 1. This game has so much potential, and I get the inspiration, the style, design, you've nailed a lot of this work. 2. The gameplay is a tad painful, which can be a good thing if intended! I find the speed of the character to be so refreshing, but then absolutely hindered by how long the attack animations take. Maybe it's a "get good" moment for me. Because of my animation limitations, the golem fight was a bit too difficult. Having said all of that, this is a game that is at a minimum worth playing.

Developer

thanks so much!

Mhh the idea could work but maybe if you actually get "stunned" by attacking, don't make 2 monsters attack at once? Also the duration until the arrow is fired is extremely long. Also the language, maybe next time don't use words like "welp".

Developer

yea lol i was just tired after work so i was half awake thanks for comment tho
