Pretty fun, it's just that the delay with twitch makes you have less time than you think. Other than that it's a fun game, nice way to keep viewers engaged.

Funny little game to keep on your stream ^^ I didn’t know you could switch from shooting and reflecting on the same character. That is a nice feature, and can really turn the tide!

I didn't play the game, because I don't do streams, but I saw it in action in the vods that you sent us.

I can say that for me the idea seems very innovative. It's interesting how one can integrate a game into whole other platform and it actually fits. I wonder how you made this? I s there an official Twitch API for this?

Developer

The cool thing about web games is that you can see the source code in your browser! Feel free to poke around, most of the Twitch integration stuff is in main.js. Basically, when you click the Login to Twitch button, you're redirected to twitch.tv who asks if you authorize the login. They then redirect back to my site with an access_token parameter in the url hash. I use that token to connect to their chat irc websocket and send some messages to use that token to read the chat. Then as messages are sent to the websocket, I parse them to see if they are messages relevant to the game and act on them.

You can now create a js lib for that and get super famous in the community)

My only gripe: the streamer is clearly playing favorites and always picks the red team :)

I love the idea of this game! Live chat games are an idea I have had in my head some time ago as well, and I believe it is an idea that has a lot of potential for the future. Yours is a really nice take on it. Too bad it is a bit of a barrier to start playing because it is on a different platform and requires you to login. But it is a good thing that you live stream so we can see the game in action. Maybe you can put a link somewhere to a stream for others that want to see how it works, but don't have a twitch account.

I like the gameplay, it seems nice and competitive. doesn't take too long so you can play game, after game, after game. What exactly is the 'mirror' aspect in the game?

Developer(+1)

Hey, thanks for the kind words. I really appreciate it. If I had more time I definitely would have included a demo mode for people who didn't want to go through the setup trouble to try the game. The mirror aspect is admittedly pretty bare bones in this game. Basically there are 2 action types, shoot or reflect. Shoot shoots a laser and reflect is a mirror shield that reflects lasers back at the shooters. Thanks again for the nice comment!

I did not expect to see a twitch game in this jam and was completely surprised. Very cool idea and I had really fun playing it during your stream. It is quite a simple game, but somehow it is tricky and quite addicting. The only problem I see is the lag. If you entered something 3 seconds before the time was over it was not taken into account. Maybe you can somehow solve that,by wait a few more seconds after the time is over to collect all entries. Not sure if this works, you might have better ideas :). Anyway, I enjoyed it and     GO TEAM RED!!!

Hey, thanks so much for stopping by to play as much as you did. Really appreciate it. I agree that there should be a lag grace period. Thought about it during the jam but didn't come up with a solution I liked at the time. I'm sure I'll come up with something post jam though. The next thing I want to include is a streamer vs streamer matchmaking system so one chat is red team and the other chat is blue team. Thanks again for trying it out!

I've not played it yet (not logged into twitch in a while) but I just want to say "mingebag" made me smile. :)

Yeah, unfortunately due to the nature of my game, I don't expect many people to get to try it themselves. I do plan on streaming myself playing other jam entries with my game overlayed, so hopefully a couple people will be able to experience it through that. I'm glad you appreciate my old-school Garry's Mod reference :) .

Share it to discord when you begin streaming. Would love to watch it 😉

Btw, there is still a lot of game still unrated and uncommented. Maybe start from there.
