We're all encouraged to play and rate each other's games. If you comment on someone's game on their submission page, it shows your game under your comment and they'll likely return the favor :) At least that's what happened for me.

Wow, you got a donation? That's really generous of the rater. Congrats, man! But as far as getting more ratings, yeah basically just go out and play other people's games, rate and leave a comment on what you liked, suggestions, etc. People will usually return the favor but on top of that there is a "karma" feature that itch.io has where the more you rate and comment the higher your game shows up in that organization selection. It shows people who click on it who's actually active in the community and would probably actually read and respond to any feedback you give to them.

Edit: All that said, I'll be sure to try your game and provide a rating & comment later today :)

Thing is I have played a fair few others games and left comments.

Not 900 of them tho.

I was just playing them to give the Devs feedback on their games.

Well, looking at your page I think probably one reason why your game might not have as many ratings is because they have to download it and then it's an installer at that. I think most people are more inclined to play a WebGL build whether for convenience or because they might be scared someone put some malware or something in the downloadable file.

That's interesting, I wasn't aware that WebGL builds could be played directly on the itch.io pages, so I built a windows executable. Wonder if it would be OK to add a WebGL build now, after the submission deadline?

Submitted

Pretty sure they said it was okay to upload a WebGL build after the deadline!

I just asked, it's fine :)

I tried playing the games of those who replied to my comments, but there were a couple that needed to be downloaded, which those are the ones I haven't played. I do plan on playing some  the windows build games, but I am doing webgl first because it is much more convenient

the save feature of my game prevents webgl as it saves without using player Prefs.

Every time I have tried to build webgl I always have so many bug's.

There are two files to choose from, and installer made with inno tool and a zip with the game files directly out of unity build.

Oh sorry, I actually read "Portable" on the second file and assumed it was just for mobile. So I went with the installer instead. No problems with it though, of course.

Submitted

portable just means you can put it on a usb and play from that instead of installing on HDD which the installer does, did you find using the installer a good experience? as I used anno installer software to build it using my source unity files.

Submitted

Yeah, it seemed fine to me. There were no issues with installing it and no issues with uninstalling when I was done. The second try of your game I used the zipped files this time around though.

I agree, there's over 900 games. I've only download a couple that I really liked the look of so far. Its just a bunch of extra steps to take and when there's so many entries its hard to get noticed if its harder to get to your game. I'm downloading it now though and giving it a go

If you are interested in getting written feedback in addition to ratings,  please check this topic I created today: https://itch.io/jam/gamedevtv-jam-2022/topic/2147832/feedback-for-everyone. It's a system in which each participant will review 2 games and in exchange will get their game reviewed by 2 other jammers.

Feedback is always great if constructive.

I will check the post out tomorrow as it's too late today.

Actually, if you have Windows build, please use this https://itch.io/jam/gamedevtv-jam-2022/topic/2148162/feedback-for-everyone-windo... page instead as it is specifically targeted for Windows games while the first link is for crossplatform/Web games.
