Awesome game concept and realization! I lost horribly, of course. Will find another soul and try again.
I also love how you combined art styles within black + white (+ red).
Very well done!
This is really cool conceptually. I can see this going somewhere great. The aesthetic is wonderful, and the gameplay is promising. Down the line, if you do keep developing this -- which you should -- I might start the game with a really easy level that explains the mechanics a bit more simply. As it is, I feel like I'm jumping into the deep end of the pool to learn how to swim. But wow, nice work!
thank you! But yes you are totally correct, we had thought about having a small mock battle with George the flower where he would explain what’s going on and yeah, but didn’t have the time so it just stayed an info dump, but yeah we want to continue working on it so we’ll definitely have to get something like that implemented.
The best game I tried in this game jam yet and I'm pretty sure it will remain in the top 5. Amazing presentation, concept, story, visuals, music, basically everything is amazing here. Gave it 5 stars in all categories because it totally deserves it, you really put your soul into this one (pun intended :D)
In terms of potential improvements I found the game a bit hard, lost 4 times in a row. Maybe that's me, because the first run was trial and error but the 2,3,4 I had a solid grasp but still lost by a tiny margin.
The player gets stuck on walls sometimes when you jump and keep holding the arrow key that points to the wall.
I'm also interested in following your progress, are you planning on posting updates/devlogs?
Thank you! We appreciate the feedback, and i agree, its a harder than it should be for a jam experience. We do know we want to continue to work on it, so yeah out there enough people that want updates/devlogs I’m sure we can figure that out.
Shoot me a link if you ever decide to start a YouTube with devlogs, would love to watch the process
This was really cool, the level building mechanic is really interesting and something ive never seen before. I thought the sound design was also great.
