I find it a bit hard to understand how much can I build each round.

So I had an adventure with this - see how tall I could go... The enemy counter broke, the placement of blocks broke, the upgrade button broke, the block hologram placement broke (you can see it stuck in the map below), enemies were attacking me in build mode! But I prevailed! Behold my masterpiece.
This is a fun play toy, I had a lot of fun. My main gripe is the camera the zoom is all sorts of weird where it moves forward so you need to zoom all the way in to "reset" it then zoom out.
After building up high I eventually started to get elaborate and it collapsed on its own accord - 41 score

Nice! I will have to test that out and see if I can reproduce it! I'm surprised you were able to get it that tall! I'm also not a big fan of the zoom but we were having a hard time finding a good way to go about it. We were trying to keep the keybindings to a minimum
