Nice! Maybe I'm just a noob, but this was really hard.

Violent :)

The screen feels really small. Maybe it makes sense to add a full screen button and the ability to zoom in/out the view?

What is the engine you've built it with? Is it Pico-8?

This was fun!  And funny.  I didn't realize they were forks until I read someone else's comment, and then busted out laughing thinking of all the things a hamburger might fear.  Great Job thinking outside the box at SO many points on this one.  Fun title.  I wish there was a restart button after I died, I kept reloading my page.

Super fun. The shooting down part was key for me to figure this thing out too. I like that mechanic. Whoever gave that  hamburger a shotgun is probably regretting that decision now.

Dude this game is so weird but so funny. I love all the different bosses and how you stuck to the hamburger theme (never thought I'd write those 2 words together).

Thanks!

Fun quick game. This one feels like it belongs on a Gameboy haha

Really hard but the concept made me laugh. I don't now if it's a bug but I don't seem to be able to restart after game over on the web version.

Developer

Yeah, that's a problem I need to fix. Thanks for the feedback!

Love the unique character! And I've never seen shooting mapped to the D-PAD, but it works nicely!

It was a great moment when I realized shooting down makes you jump up.

Developer

Thanks!

This was fun, a real nice simple game with some cool controls. It plays like a gameboy game, good job!

man i am so bad at this game, but i kept playing it! :-)

That is nice! a bit difficult which is not a bad thing, but I would think a "Restart" would be nice after you die. I only get the screen of game over and nothing can be done after.

But, I love the way it loads at the beginning, it is like the gameboy did lol, love the sound FX and small details.

there are like 6 colors at a time in the game

Developer (13 edits) (+1)

Nope, only four. That's only the case for borders (which the jam host said was OK because the engine won't let me shrink the size. (And loading screens for that matter if you don't have a fast computer) The palette I used is color hex's gameboy color palette  done by yusdotcom  (with the exception of the grey color.) I promise you I use 4 colors, and just use contrast and cross hatching. By using these tools you can create images with more depth and complexity, while still using four colors. You can check my code or screenshot the game to check!

The logo uses more than four colors though, but in-game the logo is different so it's fine.

oh i didnt know about the screen size. good luck!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Good luck to you as well!

Your game is 2 pixels smaller in both directions for some reason

The presentation around the game screen breaks the jam rules

Developer (6 edits)

The 2 pixels is part of it, it hides lag for loading obstacles and, if the game was on a game boy, would be part of the game.. Because of this, the screen size is correct. I had to use the border b/c there are no size settings in the engine I was using. I will be removing the backgrounds and changing them to black to hopefully comply with the rules for the jam. Think of them as part of the webpage. They do nothing and the game, in theory, could run on a gameboy. I understand if I am disqualified, but I am wondering if these changes might allow you to reconsider. Thanks for the input!

In that case it's ok. You can change the background back too. I was a bit confused about it because from the screenshots it looked like it altered the game screen resolution. Sorry for any trouble, it's the first time people asked to do borders so I'm not used to it

Developer

No problem!
