Not only did you break the jam rule that says assets are to be created during the period of the jam you used 3rd party assets that you dont even own the rights to.

Please don't cheat in game jams its not fair to the other contestants who followed the rules.

congrats on your first game! i loved the laugh-out-loud surprise of the moment when I came to the first wall jump. really impressed with how well you implemented that mechanic. thanks!

Really very nice to play, well done for a first game, it's very functional, I was happy to finish it, I was afraid it would get even harder Haha, simple and good, nice work!

Great job on your first game. The gameplay was fun, especially the wall jumps, which were very responsive. I feel like the player could be little faster though.

Very solid for a first game. Being able to walljump out of a death pit was great. Good work!

Nice! However, I feel you should've added music.

Good job! It would be nice to have the option to enlarge the game screen!

I really liked this little game. The auto run mechanic was fun to play around with, especially with wall jumping, and the fact the hitting something wasn't bad. I just read on your page that this is your first game *ever*. To enter and complete this game to a jam is a huge achievement, really great work. I'm sure you'll just keep getting better too! Looking forward to seeing more games and jam entries from you.

Thanks so much!

First, I thought this is like Super Mario Land.

But truly, this game is like Super Mario Run!

good.

I think this is a great project to finish as your first ever - well done! I liked the concept of this runner-style type of game, and it's executed well! I'm sure you'll learn more polishing techniques as you continue more projects - good luck with it all! :D

Great job for a first! Any nitpiccs I could've had have been said already... So all I'll say is keep it up!

Quite nice and engaging gameplay. Small suggestion - after death the ball could be destroyed. Good work for a first game. Keep it up.

Developer

Thanks!  And, yes, you are correct about the death part.  I was scared [in unity] to destroy my player and prefab him back, haha.  So he never really dies, just moves!  Thanks for the play and the comments. :)

Like mario run for gameboy. Fun enough, but I would like player sprite animations, and possibly camera feedback or more movement on screen. A faster character would also be great. Pretty good for a first game!

Thanks for the comments!  My son wanted me to make him go really fast too, haha.  Speeding him up changed so much of the game I'd already designed (because he could fly over things)... I intended to have a third level though that I could speed him up for and then design the level based on it.  Or maybe he could accelerate as he goes.  Good food for thought here.  :)  Cheers for playing!

I enjoyed this a lot! I liked the auto walking to mix things up.

This was a pretty fun concept, I enjoyed the super mario land aesthetic and sound fx! Wish there could have been music but it was your first game jam. This truly felt like a classic gameboy game.

Developer

Thanks so much!  I started trying to make the music and was crushed with how hard it seemed to make something that sounds right.  Especially because the old music is so cheezy but catchy at the same time.  Prior to this week I had never even imported a single sound!   Thanks for your comments and play through.  :)

Congratulations on finishing the game! Absolutely one of the toughest things about game development and something most people never do, even for small games. It played well and if this is your first game, I can’t wait to see what you make in the future, keep it up!

Developer

Thanks!  The GameJam  concept is really inspiring to push things through to completion.  It was all really hard, but I know it will get easier now that it's not new.  :)
