I was super confused at first, next room had a chest and the next one had the exit lol

Then on my next play I saw that is is procedural.

Controls and collisions could use some fine tunning, it is very easy to move past your target.

Very nice graphics. Simple levels, but they work really well.

Nice start to a cool dungeon crawler! It's great that you managed the procedural generation for the Jam.

Developer

Thank you :) Procedural generation is a must have in anything I make, it means I get the same experience of playing it too! :P

It was fun. I got stuck in the ice at the beginning but I was able to magic my way out of that situation while trying to fend off the bats. I think it has a lot of promise for a longer game or more things to do but I definitely had fun.

Developer

Glad to hear you had fun :D

Nice game play really interesting

Really nice. I love the colour palette. It didn't really matter but when I started I was stuck inside an ice block. It only took an attack to get me out but I was confused for a second. Other than that, great game. Reminds me of traversing dungeons in Final Fantasy Adventure.

Developer

Aha, somebody else got the stuck in the ice start situation. I almost feel like that should be the default start to introduce the fire attack :P Anyways thank you :D

Cool dungeon crawler! Very Zelda inspired!

Developer

Thank you :)

had fun with this! really cute remix of the gb legend of zelda games.

Developer

Thanks!

Escaped successfully- it would be cool if you could get additional weapons, or if there was a little more enemy variety. Also the Zelda influence was very strong on this one.

Developer

Thank you :) I had thought about there being different spells the player could equip. I guess this really ended up as a proof of concept jam entry, what with there only being one kind of enemy, one weapon etc.

Love the Zelda vibe.  The controls were snappy (that's good!) and responsive.  I didn't realize it was procedural until I exited too soon, and my second try was different!  Great work on that!  Even that some of the bats respawn when you leave and re-enter rooms.  Great job!  (Would have loved a boss fight.)

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much :) I'm afraid a boss fight would have probably just been a giant bat :P

(1 edit)

Love the remix of Link's Awakening spritework!

The little dice flooring is lovely. And the color palette is nice

Developer

Thank you, the dice patterns on the floor were completely unintentional but I've come to like them :)

It's amazing, I thought there were more than 4 colors but there are only 4, this is amazing because you managed to fool my brain XD, obviously it reminds me of the original zelda, Nice entry!

Developer

Thank you!

Lovely art and very GameBoy-like sounds on every action, love it!

Developer(+1)

Thanks, every tone uses a square wave which gives it that gameboy style sound.

Submitted

Great lil experience, felt like an actual Gameboy game. Though nothin much motivates plein it, besides gettin that 420...

Nice, It’s seems like zelda haha.

Interesting to explore this dungeon and search for the keys.

Did you use procedural generation to build the dungeon? I’m so curious, because I like roguelites games.

Developer(+1)

Thanks, yeah the gameboy zelda games were a huge influence :D

Yep, the dungeon is procedurally generated every time.  I'm pretty happy about my dead simple maze generator, it just puts down a wall between every 4 rooms and then the dead ends get turned into locked treasure rooms.

great artwork

NICE! Love the style and feel, very straight forward, but nice nevertheless. It would be great to see more things added if you continue on it just for fun.

its againts the jam rules bruh

Developer

what is?

Submitted

you should totaly ignore that. my DUMB brain saw that your pixel art was SO good that there are like milion colors there. whice is not the case. sry for bying dumb

from: me

Developer(+1)

No worries, I did use a different 4 colour palette rather than the monochrome one I've seen a fair few people use. I think the blue and orange contrast well.

yeha

Any four colors is fine.
