Turn Art into a Game? Maybe?

Hey everyone! I had a blast jamming with you all. I’ve noticed that some of the submissions here really look like they could be actual games, and it would be so cool if we could turn them into a real game, just like that Famicase jam! I’m just throwing the idea out there, not looking to organize or anything, but I just think it could be a fun game jam concept.

It would be a great idea! My submission was of a similar idea - it could be a game if I tried to make it.

Great idea!

Definitely onboard with this, especially if the goal was to make a GB game! I have not personally made GB games before, with GB Studio nor otherwise, but it would be a great excuse to look into it.

It’s a great idea.

It would be a challenge to do, but it would be neat if we could each create our own level based on our art, and then have a gallery type overworld where you enter the paintings. Sort of like Super Mario 64.

That's really nice idea! Just one level would be very manageable scope for devs of all skill levels.

I'm considering making mine into a spritesheet

Well, my submission was more or less based on a GB-style game I made for GB JAM 12:

I hope you enjoy!

That's really cool! This is exactly what I meant, but in reverse.

I've actually been working on a Bitsy game on roughly the same theme as my entry, and my entry allowed to me further my understanding of what sort of game I wanted to make, and that a GB game might actually fit it more than Bitsy. I agree that it would make for a very fun jam!

Great idea! I've never made anything to fit GB game criteria so have no idea how much effort that might take... But I think if there's a bit of time for the wizards of GB game dev to throw out a few pointers it could be super cool and fun!
