Didn't make it very far sadly. Enjoy it though!! The using points system to get stuff before the level is a great idea!! BEAUTIFUL music. I couldn't figure out how to get any cogs, but I'm sure if I devoted lots of time to it I could. Anyway, really liked this. One critique is to work on your fades. I can play for quite a few seconds before the screen is gone. Nice game!

The music is actually cc0 music, I added a keybind to go to the credits by pressing C on the main menu, but that ended up being something I added at the last moment but I didn't test it, and turned out it didn't actually work, the fade screen is actually a problem I am aware, seeing little problems like these makes me kinda sad despite people having liked the game, as I had to rush through the final hours to make it to the jam.
the art is simple, and some mechanics like parts to modify the player is really neat. some level design was a bit... too difficult? one area in particular was level 2. the autoscrolling is neat but the area with the first turret is quite miserable without double jump due to both the bats and the turret and very precise jumping being required. that though is just my personal thought on its difficulty, but as for the game design, one major issue was the fact that the autoscrolling has no barriers at the start or end of the camera. i was confused and jumped off a cliff at the start because i didn't realize it was an autoscroller because the camera only moved after a few seconds of waiting, and had a barrier been there, then it would have both prevented the fall as well as made me see clearly first it autoscrolls. you can see this used in games like super mario bros 3 in its autoscrolling levels. another critique would be turrets. because they angle at the player location before shooting, it makes the visual off in that a bullet would be fired but then the turret immediately faces another direction. stopping the movement for a moment to fire and then wait and then continue rotating would make the turret visual feel a bit nicer since it is required to be looked at in order to avoid being shot.
the levels were fun on their design though and the music was nice. some changes just would make it a little nicer and more smooth and overall feel better to play. regardless, nice work!
I am totally on board that what I made was a little too difficult, I originally intended for this game to be very different than it came out, however due to time constraints and college I had to cut some of that content out, and some of the level design, despite being tuned to be completable without any power ups, still got pretty out of hand with the difficulty, that's one of the things I said I am unhappy with about this game in the discord a while ago, and I want to re-make the game once the jam ends from scratch with the scrapped content back in place.
I like the simple game art, black and white is always a timeless contrast!
I like the game and art. I don't love the controls and i couldn't tell sometimes if i was near an edge or not. also, i thought a skip text when I've already died would've been nice. I like this game a lot and enjoyed the menu BG and dialogue. dialogue can be hard to write level design was also easy to understand. Also shooting when my gun is inside the box does not seem to damage it. I also like the particle effects and gun. cool game glad i played it!
Nice feel on the game and the story is good, Also I liked the simplistic art design, spot on on that.
Such a smooth art using only few colors wow well done !
the game is really fun to play and the level design is impressive :D
i finished course 1 and lost in course 2 >.< but i survived there for so long :3
Great game !
I've asked for a friend of mine to test the game and they actually complained about course 2 as well, I will re-balance it once I have the chance to after the end of the jam.
I am glad that you enjoyed my game despite course 2 spiking in difficulty a little too fast! You got pretty close to finishing the game, the game only has three courses and the third one is a one-act.
Some of the cogs are actually a little tricky for myself to get too, and I made the game, but there is always at least one cog that is accessible without any installed modules every level, at least one that is accessible only through shooting, and one through double jumping. There is also a few that are under pass-through platforms, but I feel I didn't convey very well you can go through some of them.
