Definitely a fun little take on Wordle!
I think the game has really solid polish, and while the visuals and UI are simple, I think they are exactly what they need to be, and simplicity is a good thing here :)
SFX and audio queues are nice, and feel appropriate.
As CaptainRipley said, love the high score list, and I wish I had time to add that to my own submission.
My only critique is that getting multiples of a singular number can sometimes feel really unfair, as it sometimes left me feeling like there was nothing I could have done to win other than be on the good side of a dice roll. Additionally, because it's numbers, and there aren't any patterns to look for, like in words with Wordle, the game effectively ends up boiling down to one, optimal strategy, and some luck.
Great game, I played it for quite some time and had a blast for all of it! :)
Having played wordle, these are my thoughts in no particular order
Nice sound effects, I really like the drum roll before the reveal.
The tiles flipping is nicely done and the overall look is clean. Great job with the UI and UX
Love the wanted list, wish I had been able to add it to my jam entry lol
If i had to critique something, it would be that there could be a need for something to switch up gameplay. Obviously Worlde was a daily word game so the challenge is in guessing the word. Since you made this number based, I like that you added rounds, a timer, and a high score. Those additions really help justify the more limited amount of inputs a player can make (0-9) vs the entire alphabet(26), but I think there is little reason to change strategy once you know what you’re doing.
Overall, great job on this, really nice entry to the jam :)
Very nice little game, it's kind of meditative and makes you focus on the method.
The YES/NO buttons after each round feel like they don't really match the style of the rest of the game graphics wise, and perhaps it would benefit from some music, I'm not sure.
I ran into trouble when there were repeating numbers. I can't think of any way to finish a level with 2 identical numbers without guessing. It would be good if each level could be finished every time given the correct strategy.
playing yall's game made me really (jealous) realize how bad my UI and lack of scene transitions are. I had trouble with the yellow "wrong spot" code I had to give up trying to fix it that all the sounds in the game were the last day addition. retrospect tho if you didn't end up just guessing I don't think you'd ever lose the game
Was difficult to get how to play in the start but once u get it, its fun. A tutorial introduction to new mechanics would be great. Lot of repayable value in this game. I think building and polishing ( visuals and music ) it into the theme of robbing as a secret spy/thief will help more with the narrative , although the game feels whole in itself. Since its time based think a 3 point system would work better as well as stage selection with progression in difficulty.
This is very nicely polished! The SFX are great, and I really like the clicking of each button press, it makes it kinda fun simply doing that.
Visually, it's all cohesive and looks great!
Having the countdown really amps up the intensity and makes you panic a bit, I think that's a great inclusion.
I wonder if you could do more to make it feel like you're a robber/hacker or whatever. Maybe have some intense music playing, or maybe a short animation before the round that has you zooming in on a vault or something. Maybe make the visuals a bit darker.
It'd be interesting if there was some way to bound the set of possible numbers. I found myself just doing "1234" and then "5678" then "90" in rounds 1, 2, and 3 every time to figure out the possible set of numbers. I don't know if that's the best thing to do, but it seemed to work alright, but wasn't exactly "fun".
Last thing I'd say is it'd be interesting if between rounds there were modifiers you could do to benefit you the next round (like additional time, eliminate a number off the bat). Or maybe a bonus if you complete it in fewer rounds.
Nice little game jam project!
lol, actually the scoring is however many lines left times 100. I thought about putting in random bonus scoring to act as additional loot from completing the "break in" but time made me just ship it. modifiers are a good idea. thanks for checking it out
