I had fun playing! I thought it was pretty challenging, but not too challenging, and I was able to figure out how the game worked pretty well, I think.

I really liked that you could build your deck towards a certain strategy - be shield based or bleed based for example.

Seeing a count of cards left in your deck would be nice!

One thing I'm not sure I like is the randomness each play through. First time I played, it was just one enemy I had to face in the first round, but then the next time it was three. I think it makes it feel a little too random and out of my control. Like I can look out of the gate at the path and determine if it will be possible to win or not.

The game feels quite polished for a jam game - SFX and feedback are pretty good, music is nice, visuals are good. This is really well done!

I really genuinely enjoyed playing this game!

Would love to see more different types of cards!

I had a fun time with the game. Managed to beat the boss and seems like it start over a new run don't know if the enemies attack/def are scaled here but managed to get to the boss again but died to him due to bleed . Lot of cool cards to try and work with. Took a while to understand how the bleed works and it seems there is a possibility of creating different builds. I focused mostly on shields and high dmg slash as currently it felt like the winning strategy .Dont think I encountered any bug or atleast it didnt break the game for me. What I thought was a bug is actually a feature where u can use only 3 cards  from hand per turn. There is an indicator for it but initially it didn't stick out to me.
Visually for a jam the art works !  moving forward I would work with a palette of colors that are in harmony,  which will help set a mood for the game.  would suggest https://lospec.com/palette-list they have a nice collection of palette selection.
Overall a great job !! Cheers

Great job with this! Like some of the other comments, I wasn't able to finish due to the 6 card bug, so I'll just comment on what I was able to see.

I like a lot about this project, the art, the transitions, the types of cards (riposte is sweet), the variety of tiles you can land on, and the cat and mouse theme are all wonderful. It's a very nicely done project that I can see easily being pushed into a full game if added upon.

If I had to critique something it'd be the colors. They are all really really saturated, if that's what you wanted then forget I said anything. I just think that de-saturating certain colors like the green in the grass in the overworld would help keep things from getting noisy and also help you draw focus where you most want it. That's not to take away from the very charming pixel art work here.

Really nice job on this!

I really appreciate the tangible, specific feedback! I'm no artist, and I often find myself investing in strong, vibrant colors whenever I use pixel art, for some reason. I think you're right; reserving that vibrancy for the core items that I want to draw the players' attention seems more important, and like a great idea.

Thanks for playing, and taking the time to give feedback!

I'll push out the bug fix as soon as I'm allowed, dependent on whether or not bug fixes are allowed after the submission deadline :)

I ran into the same bug as Xuraith, which is a shame because I was 1 level away from the boss fight.  If there are 6 cards to choose from after the battle the button to skip/select gets moved off screen and there's no way to continue.  I really enjoyed the game, its hard without getting good cards at first but when the rng favors you its fun to battle on.

I'm sorry to hear you experienced that bug. I'll upload the fix as soon as I'm aware that bug fixes are allowed after the submission deadline!

I definitely agree that the early game depends somewhat heavily on viable early cards, and am currently working through different solutions on how to rebalance the difficulty curve, and make the card drafts feel more fair.

Thanks so much for playing, and for the feedback!

Have you played inscryption yet?  In that game you can make a card when you 'die' which is a combination of some of the cards in your deck randomly chosen, for each of the variables (health, rune, cost) and then that card gets put into the game for the next playthrough, you may or may not get a chance to pick it up, but the idea is you want to pick up super powerful cards knowing the next time you die there's a chance you can use that card to make your death card and then get the chance to pick up earlier in the game giving you a nice high value card for your deck if the rng falls in your favor.

A little balancing (if you get 3 cats first battle pretty much game over)

Had a bug between rounds where the choice of card was more than 4 and so I couldn't see or select the accept button at the bottom so I had to restart

Overall tho I like the concept and the mechanics all seem to work nicely, good job

Thanks for the feedback!

That is a known bug, and is, in fact, already fixed locally, but I don't know if uploading bug fixes after the submission deadline for the Game Jam is allowed, so it is still in the currently available version.

I also found that getting an epic encounter with enemies in the first node is very difficult, and only was able to barely overcome that challenge a few times. I'll definitely rebalance the early stages of the difficulty curve. Thanks again!
