I really love the premise and the story and would totally want to see this being continued so hers a few issues I had;
- The upgrades are pretty long to get especialy in a jam context where you gotta play ton of games.
- There is no point in playing higher difficulty stage because they doesnt give more materials
- Killing the first boss over again still unlock new difficulty
- Enemies would sometimes not fade away and just continue on being immortals but still drop loot
Ideas
- Would be cool that each element had different attack area, for exemple: the wind attack will damage in a cross, the fire in a circle, ect..
- Being able to choose wich elements will be used and in which order
- Prerequisite for the next upgrade tier should count every previous upgrade instead of just the tier below
All in all the game is great and would definitly want to see more.
The visuals for the intro cutscene are excellent!
And I like how well the story justifies the mechanics as well.
Who did the voice acting? Is it AI or did you hire a professional?
Great storytelling btw.
This is one of my favorites from the jam. Although if there's one suggestion I could make it's that I would prefer if I could have gotten a feel for the game before being dropped into that massive skill tree. Even better if the skill tree had some fog around the unexplored parts so it doesn't get too overwhelming. That's not related to the rating criteria though, it's just me nit-picking.
Welp - it is AI for better or worse. I did it myself… then I let my curiosity use that as an input to eleven labs and I was not able to compete with my own voice lol. Was pretty blown away at how good it’s getting.
Yea, if it works, it works! It sounds incredibly professional.
Once again, a great game! I wish that you could upgrade things a little faster though. With such a large skill tree, I'd have to play for hours to get any significant upgrades. The story, which was great btw, was a little too long to be right at the beginning imo. I think if you put one scene every time the player returns to the tower, it would both encourage longer play sessions, and make the story more interesting since you're playing through parts of the story.
Take all that with a grain of salt, you have a masterpiece on your hands!
all good points! lol I forgot it was due today. Had to scramble to implement. Definitely too long on the story intro and needs to be broken up. I plan to put a tutorial play level in after a few lines. Love the return to tower idea. I know it needs to be more slowly given out over a longer sequence of plays.
Thanks for playing!
