I was inspired by your cute frog. Our animals are friends now. <3

Thanks so much! Good note on the sfx. I originally had 2 different sounds, but it confused everyone in playtesting lol. I could definitely normalize it lower than the other sounds though, so thanks for the feedback!

This comment is what keeps me going. Thanks for playing!

I think you're the only one so far to 100% the game (aside from myself, of course lol) Normal difficulty is no joke (based off your leaderboard score) I probably should have named the difficulty "tough, hard and really hard" lol.  I admire your dedication, and am even more thankful for your feedback.

Thanks! I've heard this from most others. An effort for more polish after the jam would definitely be worthwhile!

Thanks! Yeah, almost everyone here has mentioned something similar. A few unfortunate oversights that prevent this from being great! A lesson learned for the upcoming rounds hopefully!

I take it back. 10/10. I was still grieving when I rated lol. Great story bro, you got me hooked so hard.

Thanks for the kind words! My art is the one area I feel weakest in, so it's really encouraging to hear that someone likes it!

I'm glad you liked it! Yeah, all the comments here are about how small changes would go a long way for this. Lives are a great idea, and would make the leaderboard much more interesting too! Thanks for the feedback!

This was cool! There are a few areas where you can get softlocked, and sometimes the camera is zoomed out perfectly, other times it's not zoomed out enough to see everything needed. All in all, those are small issues that have simple fixes. Great job!

I love the style of this. I can't think of a single thing I dislike. Well done!

Cute, simple, well thought out.  The only complaint I have is how short it is! I would love to see this developed further.

Spamming is definitely the winning strategy. Thanks for the great feedback. I've heard the "sameyness" from a lot of others, and I've since thought of other ways to make the gameplay more interesting. Thanks again for playing!

Very good. I loved the artwork. 10/10

This was a good submission! I can tell that you worked hard on the enemy pathfinding and stuff. All around, pretty good for such a short game!

What a cute game! I was a little confused why the ducklings couldn't launch through things when I could. It took me a long time to realize the intended solution to return to the nest on level 2.

I love this. Most relatable story I've seen the whole jam.

My brain is not big enough for this game. I still loved it. I'll make my brain bigger, then try and finish it.

Meanie head. You get 1 star for every tear I cried. Which is zero. Because I didn't even cry at all. 10/10.

I secretly had so much fun bouncing the ball off of my dad's face. Cute, simple, perfect.

This was great! I would have loved an alternative to the spacebar, since the main strategy is just hold space and dodge. Otherwise, the theme, the upgrades. Everything was great!

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback! Yeah, I've had a few people mention the slow speed on the levels , but I didn't have time to redesign them. Definitely a lesson learned this round!

This was a cool concept.  I'm pretty confused by the level design, and I'm even more unsure what the story was about, but the platforming controls feel great! At the same time, for some reason the dash stops working during the lava part, and I can't always get the walljump to work.

That's an ambitious deadline lol. Good luck!

This is the best compliment I've gotten so far. Brings a tear to my eye. <3

Love the concept! I found a few bugs, most notably you can shoot a block through another block to clip the edge of the level. I would also love A better way to un-dig myself from being buried. Maybe if I could eat and swallow a block instead of having to shoot it? idk, but super fun vibes!

Thanks for the kind words! I've heard that feedback from a few people. It seems that indicating the restriction for the animals also felt like a restriction to the player. Learning a good lesson in level design from this for sure!

I don't want to give too much correction because your brain is already so much in the right direction. What I will say is that with the cat's controls being somewhat floaty and imprecise, making some of those challenges extremely precise is compounding the difficulty. I can think of two solutions that would move you towards a good direction.

The first is if there was an additional indicator that shows where exactly the cat will move, in addition to the camera's movement not effecting the mouse placement.  There were a few times that falling felt unfair just because the camera panned in a way I didn't expect. The other is if we held left click and used WASD to move the cat while holding it. I think either one of those ideas would keep those difficult sections hard, but make it less punishing to retry.

TLDR: In my opinion, you're doing great. Puzzles, challenges, everything is where it needs to be. The only thing you're missing is making a challenge feel 100%  achievable. This game felt 90% skill, and 10% luck.

People say that the sequel isn't as good. They lied. This was great! Everything I loved about the first game, plus extra mechanics. I also love the idea of taking people's previous builds and facing off against those. I bet some lucky player is excited for an easy victory against my builds lol.

I got a visual bug after the game reloaded because I'm bad at TDS. Otherwise, this game was perfect! I will definitely be coming back to 100% this when I have time.

Very jump king energy. I liked it! Well done

The one word  I think describes this game best is "CUTEEE!" Well done! Brought a smile to my face after so many sad story games.

Having read some of Descartes previous to this game, I could not stop laughing. I want you to make a game with this type of narrative for every type of ancient mathematician. Actually, I want this kind of narrative for any historical figure ever. Well done, perfect game IMO

9/10. You lost a point by making me cry at the end. Great story.

There's some cool art here! I think somewhere in the middle there's a game too lol. I'm honestly not sure if I won?  I was told I'm dreaming, and then the camera panned up into the empty sky. I love the idea, but a little bit more structure, just to explain the chaos would be nice.

I think I understand the game? It's hard to tell because there's not much player feedback other than to door disappearing. A solid tutorial would bring this to the finish line in my opinion. I love the idea, but for me, the execution just wasn't quite there. From reading the other comments, it sounds like there's a lot of unfinished parts, which is a bummer for the jam, but I'm super interested in what happens with this in the future!

I love this! I found the final boss a little tricky since you had to jump so close to the wall to hit him, but after a few tries I got it. I'm also not sure if I missed this in the tutorial, but I didn't know you could slime bats until I did it on accident. Otherwise, 10/10 game!

This is a super cool concept! I found a few coding bugs where the spiders, if you shot them while they're climbing a wall, they'll get stuck. Which I didn't mind actually because it made those levels easier. It's also possible to shoot yourself off screen if you're moving quick enough (which I did often).

Otherwise, just to repeat what everyone else has already said, the story is great! I would love to see what happens next!

This was cool! I had a lot of trouble with the platforming, but I can see what you were going for. I love some of the puzzles!

This is only part 1? Already felt like a complete game. Can't wait to see what's next

This was a cute and simple game! You've reminded me that game jams don't need to be some crazy complicated thing. Well done!
