Fun game! I really liked the visuals here! In fact, I'm curious to know what program you used to make them.

That aside, the game was simple and fun. My main feedback here is would be to have made the arrows disappear when hitting an enemy, as it was difficult to tell if they were taking damage from my arrows or not, and as well I was not sure what purpose the skulls served (though I collected them as much as I could nonetheless).

Great stuff!

Fun fact about the art of the game.

All visual assets were made in the one and only Microsoft Power Point, unusual huh?

Except for one or two that i took from Kenney's.

And for concept art Medibang was used by hirianblack#5466.

PD: I know how to use Krita, Corel and Photoshop, but i used Power Point because I had reinstalled my OS, so ... lazyness. I will use Professional Tools for the next one :)

PowerPoint?! I didn't even think that was at all viable lol - how did you even use it?

Developer(+1)

I dont think is viable, but it has premade shapes and you can modify the vertices and the edges, and do some stuff. I think it is all about our creativity.

It certainly is about creativity! I recall seeing as well a guy make a valid Turing Machine using PowerPoint:

I love this game an I like it, so I want to tell you my opinion about your game:

Theme Relevance:

The game is completly nice an it has the theme "rebirth", so I don't see anything bad, well done! I like the idea, that you spawn as an another hero and you can collect lifes/rebirths.

Gameplay:

The gameplay is also nice, but it still has things, that I want to tell you:

First, to be fair, I will rate your game about the version, that you released before the deadline, because I saw, that you updated it later in the voting period.

In that time, the game has bugs like, that enemies still attacked me, although they are dying.

Also it was to easy to win, so I only need to spam and I will win forever, so I wished a better system, that make the game harder with the drawn time.

Anyway, the gameplay is very nice and well done, it makes fun!

Artwork:

The artwork is fine and very professional! Also the animation and the design of the enemies/heroes are very good!

Very good job!

So, I can't say anything bad about this.

Audio:

The audio is also very nice! The sound design of all parts fit very well in the game!

But the only thing is, that, if a lot of enemies spawns and I kill them, the audio is overloaded and that is annoying, but not bad.

Maybe the sound, where the player collides with the plant could be a rustle of the plants sound, that would be nice, but it's only my opinion.

So, very good job!

Good success with your entry, and I hope, you get that, what you deserve!

Best regards

Mudy

Thanks a lot for your opinion, is really helpful.
Maybe i will fix this game to make it something fun to play after the game jam.

PD: I updated just to add screenshots, not to improve it. Still has those bugs you mentioned.

You're welcome :)

Then sorry, I thought you changed the game big, but then, it's ok :)

Keep the great work! :D

Nice work! I really loved the art, it’s so polished and bright with simple lines. Can’t praise it enough. I especially liked the character designs, and their movement animations looked really good.

Gameplay was fun too, I enjoyed having to throw weapons while jumping over the boulders and dodging arrows. But after a point it got a little broken/repetitive. I could just keep throwing axes as the viking character and nothing could really get near me. I think it could be more fun with better pacing, i.e as you keep playing more enemies arrive in combination with the arrows/boulders etc.

The individual sounds were really well-made and fit the game well, top-quality stuff. I felt like some of them were too repetitive or loud though (especially some of the attack sounds) which was a bit aurally tiring. I would have also liked some more visual feedback when something happens in the game - for example, some visual indication of damage when the player or enemy is hit. Sprites of objects disappearing suddenly was also a bit jarring - such as the boulders/enemies.

Great work overall, I had fun playing this one. Looking forward to more!

Developer

I will try to fix these bugs. Thanks for describing what is wrong with the game.

Great work on this game! The art is super well done for a game jam, especially with how the background interacts with your movements!  The gameplay is simple, but that's not really an issue for a game jam.  I think a few things that could've made it a bit more interesting are some more platforms to move around on and a bit more variety to the different characters (even if that's just damage per shot/throw speed/movement!)  I liked the arrows and barrels, those were a nice touch.  I think another thing this game could do well with is scripted levels, with purposefully placed enemies, instead of (what I assume to be) random spawns.  The audio was also good, nothing groundbreaking nor terrible, but plenty for the needs of this game.  Good job, all in all!

The game looks really good! I love the art and the sounds are fitting very well.

But the game itself is too easy. If you spawn projectiles in both directions you rarelly see an enemy. Only cause of the sound effects I realized - that I'm killing them the whole time without seeing.

Btw there seems to be a save-spot. I walked right and I guess I'm behind the enemy spawner. Actually I wanted to die to see the end screen ... but I don't receive any damage there ^^. So while I'm writting this I'm still ingame with full lp. But now I can see the enemies (they also look really nice!! So really great work with the arts!)

Besides that: I really like how you implemented the respawn-mechanism. It is really good that the player is spawned above the battle ground so that he has time to realize what has happened. This is really clever.

Developer

Thanks for your opinion, I noticed the bugs you mentioned, but I didn't have enough time to fix them since I ended up implementing most of the game on the last day. I know it feels very buggy.
