Wow, this is sooo cool. Thanks a lot for streaming this! And especially for playing on despite the horrible glitches haha. The PC build doesn’t have the lag and black screen issue afaik, but I wanted to keep WebGL up for those who can’t download or install Windows stuff. Will try and fix the WebGL bugs once the rating period is over.
There are a lot of things to improve - enemy AI is a bit inconsistent, and combat could be a little smoother I think. Likewise with the slow zombie speed and repetitive wandering around the map. Still, I’m glad you sounded like you were having fun all the same :).
PS: The text scrolling is a little script that I wrote, I might add it to my github at some point if anyone else would find it useful. The lighting is done by adding a lit shader to all the sprites, and putting Light objects on the torches and the player. The platform is Unity, btw.
This game was awesome!
First of all, the soundtrack is amazing and fits super well with the setting, like I genuinely love it. The whole monologue stuff too is done well and looks great. On top of that, the sprite designs themselves look good too, and just give the whole game a really nice retro vibe alongside the audio.
While the combat and movement in the game did feel a little clunky and slow, the main mechanic of becoming the monsters that kill you was really fun to mess around with and fit the theme well.
Overall, this game was well done and pretty fun to play.
Hey, i really loved your game, it is something that i would play to.
But i found the following bugs:
Bug#1: Enemies get stuck when i place the player in certain positions.
Bug#2:There seems to be enemy spawns out of the visible/playable area.
Out of this is a good game. And the gameplay feels good.

Great game and great interpretation of the theme! The context and setting are also kinda funny - I chuckled at how lawyers are shown as creatures of Hell in this game. The main demon character that talks to you after each death kinda reminds me of Quarble from The Messenger: gives good advice while throwing shade at you through witty comments - I personally like that kind of humor in games.
Nice soundtrack and sound effects as well. Only issue I had with the game was that I had difficulty connecting the zombie and initial character hits - they seemed too slow for this game that throws many enemies at you (though this was minor, as I eventually got used to it, and it wasn't game-breaking to begin with.)

Really like your take on the theme "Rebirth". Dungeon-crawlers are one of the favorite genre. Controls can still be improve as well as the movement of the player. I've encounter a bug the first time I played it. After being reborn as the Hellhound, I rushed to the checkpoint and go through the ladded, and the screen goes black. I can only see the Hellhound sprite and all the animations are still working. I tried reloading and try the ladder again and it works well that time. Overall, your team's concept is one of the bright ideas in this game jam!

Really cool concept that meets the theme really well! The mechanics are fun, the odd bug here and there but nothing that bad. Great job!
Looks like a great improvement after my first playtest with this game :D Didn't experience any web build issue and was able to run it at first try hahaha. As for the gameplay, it felt really good and a lot of new stuff placed. The way you used the theme is so great. I love the NPC every death and how it describes the enemies encountered :)
One thing probably still is the lag on floor 4 and beyond maybe some more optimisation and this game will be really great. Good job!
Thanks a lot, both for testing our game’s early version and for coming back to play it again :). We changed a few settings and optimized the WebGL slightly after getting your feedback (unfortunately not enough to eliminate the lag on floor 4, but c’est la vie).
We hope to add some improvements once we get the chance :).

Hello, I want to say, that your game is very good! The Artwork and the Theme are very good implemented and the quality is very well! Sometimes it's struggle, but you already said, that the WebGL version is not very smooth, so I don't want to be rude. The sound design is also very nice, so very well! I did rate your game. Keep this work and please expand the game!

Super fun entry. I loved the idea of getting reborn as an enemy because of "karma" haha. I thought the music was really good and I love the artwork. I love the attack sounds and hurt sounds too. Great submission!

The game is very cool and the mechanics of being reborn with the enemy's body are very well thought out. I just note one point that spoiled my experience, the controls with WASD, on an Azerty keyboard it's complicated.

AAAAAAAA I love LOVE this game to death! The cut scenes and commentary by the evil darkness was super nice and helped transition between each death, such a lovely touch! By the time I got to floor 4, I stopped trying to kill the monsters and just ran around, but I'd get stuck HAHA - wrong strategy. Loving the animations - very smooth for a pixel game! And the monsters are really cute (not sure if you intended it that way, but I think they're absolutely adorable!!). Not to mention the idea behind powering up/getting stat buffs with each death is super clever! I purposely tried to die after killing the monster I wanted to become XD HEHEH.
Aww, Glad you enjoyed it Sola! The monsters are pretty adorable - I think it’s the smooth animation and 16x16 sprites that make them look so good. All compliments to our artist here :).
Yeah, I think some players found that if you died too often on floor 4, new monsters would spawn until there is a whole horde of them chasing you around XD. Got to balance the spawn rate in future. Thanks so much for playing!

Loved the take on the theme and its associated rebirth mechanics. It seems that there's nothing beyond level -3? (I wasn't sure if that was a bug). Great graphics / audio / gameplay, really fun dungeon crawler with an awesome twist. Note that I was able to do a 3rd run just as the little girl and make it all the way to the end without ever killing anyone, which was a fun challenge in itself as well. Awesome job!

The game ends on floor 5, there is supposed to be an explanatory message that pops up once you reach the small closed room, but on WebGL the trigger wasn’t working for some people, leaving them a bit confused lol.
And yeah, I was going to include an achievement for those who finished as the girl without killing anything! “YOLO” maybe. I’m super stoked that someone actually went and did it.
