Holy crap guys seriously, I have so many good things to say about this entry! I'll start off with Chaos' art as that's the first impression. The portraits are all really well done, and the sheer volume of tile assets is ridiculous. Considering that as well it's hard to say many critiques with the time restraints so just really well done and I liked all the cast and environments! I also checked out Jake's Soundcloud before playing and am definitely a new fan, all the tracks seem to hit that balance of being completely listenable but also nice on a loop so brilliant job! Carc0sa and Whyms I'm not sure how the rest was split between you two but functionally and narratively the game was great! In terms of puzzles, I thought the challenge + amount of hints felt pretty nice, I've not played RPG horrors in a while but the difficulty was similar to what I remember. I almost finished without saving anyone but luckily I saw multiple endings on SoundCloud and felt an urge to save all these cool characters. I tried to get a screenshot of the cool happy grass scene but it timed out, probably best to not spoil it for other potential players anyway since it was a sweet surprise. Whether you guys choose to add to this or do something else I hope you continue working together, you seem to have skill on all bases so will be looking forward to seeing what's next! :)
Great game! I got stuck :-( But my journey there was well worth it. The music... excellent. The atmosphere... flawless. I'd love to play more by this group! Good luck!
Sorry you got stuck! I know there are a couple of bits people have struggled to figure out, so don't feel bad.
Glad you had a good time with it regardless!
We really tried to nail an eerie atmosphere, without getting too into horror cliches.
I've been in touch with Forsaken Waffle and he said they look like they're unusual bugs. If it counts for anything, I used Firefox to play the web version in my video. I don't know why that would matter since you're using RPG Maker though...
There's probably a few bugs left in the game that I didn't find to squash before the polish window closed. The game wound up pretty big for a jam title, with rather a lot of moving parts compared to my previous projects. That combined with the short timeframe for testing meant I'm not surprised there are still a few ways left that you might be able to softlock in certain circumstances I've not been able to stamp out yet, so apologies for that one!
I was excited to see someone really work the theme into the story! Really cool how you established puzzles, then built on the premise. Also liked how the items reflect both the puzzle and character they are associated with. The casual tone in the dialog was fun and natural sounding. Great entry!
Thank so much!
Tried to make the puzzles somewhat logically tie into the character they were associated with, so they didn't just feel like filler.
The narrative design of this game is what really pulled me in. The atmosphere and the audio of this game almost feels like a horror game which is a plus. The puzzle elements of the game had me thinking logically to complete it and advance through the game.
Thank you! Whyms and I worked very hard on the narrative to try and make it interesting and compelling, and Chaos and Forsaken really worked hard to nail the mood we'd been going for.
I had a really good time playing this one. The narrative pulled me in and I wanted to find out more about the lore and history of the shrine. I'll try and get another ending and see what happens. Nice art style and UI.
Thank you!
Great to hear it was interesting and left you wanting to find out more. .. as a very narrative driven game and pretty text-heavy we new grabbing people was going t o be a big deal.
The re are three endings in all! (Though one of those had minor changes depending on who you save.)
