This is definitely the most polished game I played on this jam so far! Great, fun idea - I would be more than happy to play it once you build on it the whole game!
The main thing though - would be great to have 360* movement :).
Thanks for the feedback! We knew the 90 degree snaps felt wrong - definitely a result of the time limit! If we take it forward - it is definitely something we will address!
Awesome concept for a game. Amazing how you've done this in such little time :D
I can see myself buying this game on steam... good mechanics... but kindly switch deforestation to horror walking trees .in absence of light . so that we wouldn't feel bad cutting them.. ;)
Thanks that is a great idea!
This game is super cool! I thought my team focused on polish for a long time on our game, but you took it to a whole new level.
Thank you so much, I'll check out your game when I am home from work!
Ahah the art is great, I just grabbed the chainsaw and went sicko mode, sry trees...
Those poor trees!
This is your most polished looking game yet, Sam. The mechanic is pretty solid and works well, the art style really adds to it.
The cardinal direction of your aim does not match the isometric directions of the map, but that's really the only problem I have with it.
If you wanted to extend on this, you could throw your boombox in the direction your aiming for a bit of damage, and it means you have to fight your way through zombos to get it back, rather than backtracking ever so slightly to where you put it down.
All in all though, great work as always.
Thanks for playing mate. Was hoping to do the other 4 angles of rotation but meant doing a bunch more animations (why we didn't just do it in 3d I don't know....)
Love the idea of throwing the box. Really think we need to play with the holding one item at once idea some more but as always I went too big in the time. One day I will learn to just think of a small idea and make that!
Love the boom box throw idea!
cool graphics and nice gameplay, well done!
Thanks!
The game, theme, world and setting are pretty awesome. great job. I found collision to be a little tricky, and wasnt sure how much health I had. overall it was a fun experience. keep up the good work.
Thanks for playing the game! There is a known bug at the moment with some hidden colliders that will be fixed after the voting has finished. Agree with player feedback when taking damage. Original goal was to only have one hit point but it felt unfair to randomly get hit.
Great fun~
The angle snapping took a little getting used to, but aside from that, nice work~!
Thanks! Classic 'if we had more time' we would have introduced the other 4 rotations to smooth it out.
I found the game too easy and beat it on my first try. I didn't actually need the boom box and only learned that you are suposed to take it with you after reading the bottom text. I don't think you should be able to see zombies in the dark. You could do this using sprite masks or the light weight pipline. Otherwise you can just run straight through without the boom box. The art was great though and I really liked the sound effects. The bridge moment was also very nice. Awsome job!
Hi thanks for the feedback! Yeah I agree that the lighting is too high when not using the torch/boombox. We will definitely change that in the next release (boring unity stuff but yeah we used unity 2019.2 and the new 2d lights so it's easy to change)!
I love the idea of a lumberjack in a zombie apocalypse, and this game delivers! It is a little short, and the isometric terrain kind of clashes with the cardinal directions of your flashlight and chainsaw, but all in all, this is a good game!
We were pretty keen on keeping it free roam but I agree, time prevented us from filling out the diagonal character movement frames. Thank you for your comment!
The game looks amazing. I loved the voice over and the SFX. Thought the fighting was kind of easy in the beginning but wasn't able to survive when a huge horde showed up. Had a lot of fun playing it. Congratulations!
Thanks for playing the game. It's all about trying to kite the zombies in those horde sections. Having a big AOE spin would have been a nice inclusion though!
I really like the concept of juggling items, this is cool!
The game looks really pretty and I love the voices and sound effects. I really like that zombies are not easy to notice in the dark (or my eyes are getting weaker). The overall experience was nice but the battle felt a bit too easy since I can almost always stand still and cut those zombies. I still died after a long while so there is a better way to fight for sure. Overall, it was fun but the battle mechanics need some spicing up.
Thanks for your comments! So many little things we'd have loved to get in but we were down to the minute on the submission time!
Game runs smoothly, great controls and interesting idea. I was finding issue when i wanted pass thru cut trees.
Hi thanks for the feedback. Yeah unfortunately another known bug :( Will be fixed after voting has finished :)
Damn there's some pretty art here! Quirky little game too! Nice polish good job!
I'll pass your compliments to the chef(s)! Thank you!
really loved everything about this game, very clean and fun!
While killing the zombies with the chainsaw was pretty satisfying, the overall combat was quite repetitive. There wasn't a good visual feedback for when the enemies attack you, or UI to display your health.
I was aware of the ability to carry the radio, and be able to bring light with me, however I wasn't compelled to do so, since apparently I was able to finish the game just fine only with the chainsaw.
The visuals were pretty good, I enjoyed the aesthetics and the audio.
The overall design wasn't very innovative, and you didn't used the theme of the jam in a very creative or meaningful way.
Thank you for the feedback!
Initially it was darker which would have forced you to use the boombox, I personally felt it may have been too difficult if you couldn't see at all as the character only has 90 degree rotations when using it as a torch - that was due to the time constraint!
The only one mechanic was the choosing your weapon/tool, particularly under pressure - perhaps we should have fleshed it out a little.
Love the day / night cycle...With the music and limited light, it gets pretty intense, pretty quick! Nice job
I enjoyed the only using one item at a time mechanic
