How does your game fit the theme?
I took control out of the player by removing the smooth movement that one would normally expect in a platformer. I also took out the direct control the player has over the laser by tying it with the movement.

I didn't mind having to click all the time, once I realized that I needed to be hitting it fast, then I got the platforming down (though, for accessibility reasons, you may consider using OnKey/Button instead of something like OnKey/ButtonDown -- you can still keep the stepping movement, but let holding a key down allow the player to advance at a set rate of steps -- this allows you to still have quick button mashing, but also make the game playable by folks who find button mashing challenging).

What I did mind was the following bug: shooting green robots takes you back to the beginning of the game. This is absolutely too punishing. I quit playing at the level where you have to dance around all the green guys up the tower and then down those stairs -- I was sent back to the beginning twice from that level.

It's a shame, because I think there's a lot of potential to make a really cool platformer with an interesting story. I would definitely like to see a polished version of this game where there is a power progression: start with just your jump and side to side movement for a couple levels, then give players the laser, then give them the ability to shoot backwards, then give them a rechargeable jet pack they can use to boost in mid air.

I know time constraints are rough, and you did really well considering this was your first jam (it was mine too!). Your use of sound is on point, I think its spareness works in its favor (you can take advantage of a spare soundscape to make location-based sound/music even more meaningful by its absence from the rest of the game).

You have a solid foundation for an excellent game here. Keep up the good work!

That's a unique concept for controls, but they don't seem to fit the platformer genre. It's frustrating to have to click so many times to get somewhere. When I killed a "good guy" and realized I had to start all over - I didn't feel like doing it all again. Maybe you could use the same controls in some shooter-ish scenario?

I really like this concept. the level where you have to jump amd move forward without destroying the platforms was fun and clever. Fun game.

Congrats on completing your first jam! A bit more juice/feedback for a lot of the actions would go a long way in making things feel a lot better/more readable, but not too bad!

The biggest issue I had with the game was the movement gimmick: I know the theme was "out of control", but having to tap every time I wanted to move just *feels* bad, especially as someone who deals with wrist issues/carpal tunnel. I wonder if you could've gotten a similar effect by letting you hold the button, but only having the movement happen so often?

Not bad for a first game!! One tiny improvement might be to make it so the duck changes direction when you hit left.

by it self the main mechanic is not that interesting but you managed to make up for it with great level design, checkpoints would have been nice as well.

Not so much a new spin on platforming as much as just hammering keys to move.

Quite a cool idea and the levels design is good, the only thing i would add are checkpoints. It was quite annoying having to restart the game after a misstake
