How does your game fit the theme?
The dungeon changes every step you take, only while you're not looking at it. This makes for a chaotic, shifting labyrinth.

Great job, I played for 10 minutes. Was fun revealing new paths by moving back and forth. Also, I enjoyed making music by moving rithmically. However, I didn't know where was I supposed to go.

Such a cool idea with the maze changing in the dark! Most original idea I have seen this far. Those are some squeaky floors in that dungeon lol

Developer

Thank you! I'm glad you liked it.

Haha yeah the step sound is quite squeaky!

I love this game! I trapped myself so quickly and then I realized the world maze changes in the dark. My only criticism is that it doesn't go full-screen but I literally forgot that in my own game too

I rated this 5/5, in every category, this is my favorite game of the jam

Developer

Wow thank you so much! That's very generous of you! I'm very glad you enjoyed it.

Pressing F after the title screen will activate fullscreen :D

Thanks again!!

OMG NO! I'm sorry! Lol, I just missed that :(

Developer(+1)

No worries dude! It's lost in a  wall of text, it's easy to miss :D

I had a really fun time playing Quantum Catacombs! I really enjoyed racing around while intently looking at the depleting candle gauge! I think you should set a minimum of walkable tiles to be on the screen at all times because there was a point where I only had three walkable tiles to work with.

Developer

Hey I'm glad you liked it, thanks for playing!

A minimum of walkable tiles is a good idea, it's all too easy to get stuck pacing back and forth in a very small area.

It's the basics of a roguelike but the random shifting of the dungeon is maddening, especially coupled with limited movements and low visibility it just feels punishing and unfair.

Art is nice and the game mechanically *works*.  I'm just not sold on the concept.

Thanks for the feedback! I gotta say, maddening is my favourite description so far, it is certainly too unfair though, some balancing and new player tools are in the works. Maddening yet fair is the goal!

Your choice of making the maze change each steps fits the theme, but I think this is a bad design idea. As a player, being in the dark is already a difficulty to face. Adding the difficulty of not knowing where you are (even if you use the candles) makes the game really confusing and difficult (at least for me). Anyway the game is nice otherwise ! Good luck for your future projects.

Developer

Hey thank you for the feedback! I agree, the difficulty is a bit much. The randomising logic needs to be more forgiving and the player needs more direction. I'll be expanding on the idea with this in mind, unfortunately I ran outta time during the jam!

Thanks again! :D
