The game feels great and the gene swapping mechanic is really interesting and fun. I would like to see a post jam version where there is more control over when and how you can mutate. Nice job!
That's exactly what I'm looking into forward, and thank you for playing my game!
It's a weird one cause the random change of genes is what make it fit the theme, but it also what doesn't work well for me. I didn't really like to wait for the right combination of genes to comes up. Maybe I missed alternate paths for each combination tho, I'm not sure. Other than that it felt great to play and is fun.
Yeah I absolutely understand it, it was supposed to be kinda like a metroidvania or something where u are able to pass the levels whit any combination taht you get, but unfortunately I was only able to this in the first level because I haven't enough time to create other functional levels like this so in the next 2 ones, you really depends to luck plays on your side lol, and this is 100% the worst part of everything and it was my fault :p. Anyway I'm looking forward into this project and I don't really know what I will kept, will I focus on making perfect level designs that fit any combination or I might take the control back to the player so that he can choose the combination...
Can i have your Discord so I can send you the next builds and help me with feedback?
You could have something in the middle, where the player somehow limit the available mutations, but it's still random between the remaining ones. It could make the level design much easier.
Yeah sure you can add me : Yorsh#5196
I played this game in this video here (6:33):
Thank you really, so glad that you did this!
very frustrating, couldnt even get past the first part
every time i try to make the 3 super high required jumps my guy randomly switches into one of the 3 useless forms and i die to a guy with a gun. very obviously you didn't have time to make the game easy after you finished everything else.
looks really cool and could have been fun, but none of the other forms did anything except have shorter jump heights. I mean, that would have been fine if they could bash through walls or ram enemies, but they couldn't do that either. more explanation as to what they did would have been helpful.
if it wasnt for the 3 useless forms and the lack of info, i would have given it higher marks. the art looks great and the music sounded good. if you make improvements, poke me, because i want to play it again when its more polished
Man I really loved your feeback, of course i had my limits, also it was my very first game jam but there is no excuse. I really need to put more effort to understand how to comunicate more the ideas and you helped me a lot to understand how someone would actually play it. Would you mind trying play it again but knowing that time, that at any time you can click on these genes on top left of your screen: basically you have 2 types of heads and 2 types of legs. There's the fish head, with it you can swing on water with "W" and "S", with the rhino head, you can break those green boxes pressing "C" next to it. Theres's the kangaroo legs, with those you can kick the pink boxes pressing "Z" next to it and the frog legs which you did already understood (jump higher). It shoulb be a kinda of metroidvania, where you dont need to rely on a specific mutation to pass the stage, but actually i could only do this on the first one. I am also looking forward into making this game actually good , so you have a Discord or Twitter I would be more than grateful to share with you and happy to receive other players feedback.
(Sorry for my english thou, I'm from brazil lol).
ah i see, yes its a learning process. im really impressed actually, that you did all this and its only your first jam.
some common solutions to the lack of information problem include:
-showing the key you need to press on screen when it is applicable in context. in this case, you would show "C" when you have rhino head and are next to a green box
-making less button presses necessary. for example, instead of pressing "C", you could make the rhino head automatically break the green blocks
im looking forward to the updated version!

Also, in the top right of the screen it's a timer, this doesn't really do anything, I was aiming to make some kinda of speedrun mode with etc I don't know lol. So when you die, things that you make in the stage stay the same, you are basically teleported to the beggining, but if you kick some wrong box you can press "R" and then literally restart the level with everything in place again.
Nice looking game, and the idea is great, would love that there is more indication on what different mutation does.
If there was just one thing that I would take from this experience (participating my very first game jam), it would be players feedback and clear design. Very happy for your coment and I will be looking into getting better and better for next jam. Thanks a lot!
Fun!
Grateful!
I like it, it has some bugs, but at least its different to a lot of games I have already played in the jam.
Thanks! I will do better in terms of politness in the next time.
I think if you polished and made html version, I would have added it to my favorites in this jam. I only hope others will play it cause it is like super incredible idea, specially those genes. Thanks for letting me play it.
I'm realy looking forwarding into this project now, it's my first jam game and also the first that i took that far, this was such a great experience and now I see some huge changes that need to be done, but I will definetely keep with the genes and expand it a lot. Really appreciate your feedback.
making this solo is clap deserving. Praise yourself and the game you made. Also, if you want me to test it or something you can DM in discord.
