Really good idea, I love it! Nothing better represent "out of control" than the twitch chat

As you commented on my game, you indeed had the same idea as I did. It's interesting to see the different direction you took with it though, and I was impressed by the interface you managed to build, good job!

Watched on the stream, very funny and good choice on music.

Gave it a go, was fun but the novelty wore off quick which is fine.

You could add a working scroll bar that's controlled by the scroll wheel,  which could be brought. I feel like you could expand on this and make a good short game like if it was a dank version of 'Papers please'.

Anyway good job!

Hi Kurts Kiwi Friend,

Thanks for the feedback and we are so happy people on the stream enjoyed the idea. Looking back at the comments alongside it had us all smiling.

Our initial idea was to have multiple chats at once, introducing a new chat per level, the levels each to have their own ruleset based on streamer preference. This for the jam was to result in 4 separate chats to manage all with separate actions. We ran into scope and time constraints as everyone does with jams and instead tried to hone in on a short freestyle approach on 1 chat and make it more chaotic. There are a few design flaws in the current build which need rectified to make the experience more chaotic.

We might jump back in and add new features as you suggested our influence originally stemmed from papers please for the choice mechanic and polish it up once the voting ends.

Funny story, the idea came from the initial chat for the GMTK announcement and the chaos that was there when the theme dropped.

Felt like I was actually moderating a twitch chat, twitch memes and copypastas and all! Neat idea, got out of hand *really fast*. However, at some point the messages simply... stopped. Game didn't continue at all. Maybe ran out of generated messages? The guy had 1.2k viewers at that point.

The interface of being a desktop computer was also charming. However, I opened up the first tab which was the chat first - it should maybe locked or moved until you read the instructions, I was reading the instructions as the chat was coming on. Also, it would've been neat to have a mode where you have to use your own best judgment instead of being given a colour on what to do. Also, the fact that pink was ban confused me at first.

Still, well done and an enjoyable concept!

Thanks mind hawk, all very good suggestions. There was a notification timer that played every 5 seconds at the beginning. What i believe we should have done was force that to pop up and that unlocks the task bar icons. Additionally 2 minutes before deadline we thought of having names next to the icons to indicate what they did but didn't have time to implement.

Upon further testing post launch we had one or 2 bugs which may be why you ran into that situation. The viewers dont correlate to the total number of "chatters". Instead just the chatters sending messages is increased, so if you ban every user for example the chat will be blank. We should have added a method to produce new users but again ran out of time.

Also the missed messages at the end of the game is actually all messages that were deleted that should have been banned as we forgot a line of code 🙄

So happy you liked the idea, we had a ton of fun doing it and for 2/3 of the team (me and paul) this was our first jam.

Glad it emulated the chaos of a live stream chat. Next time we will make the user experience better for learning 😁
