Cool game - I like how you have to learn the different control mappings for each character. I had the most fun with Jessica once I figured out her 'always left or forward' mechanic

Developer

Thanks. Unfortunately, Jessica sometimes stucks on the level border, as there is no ability to turn left. Maybe, we'll fix that in sequel...

Managed to pass 3 levels somehow, the concept is cool! However I found that you can achieve goal by random turn smashing. Also, was is meant to be a rhythm game?

Developer

Thanks!
Random smashing kinda fits the theme, so we are glad you managed to beat the levels :)

No, we did not intend it to be a rhythm game, it is just we had a composer with us, and his music/sounds turned out to be rhythm-producing. During testing we would just press "cool" trying to hit the beat. Spending too much time on that is one of the reasons we haven't smashed all bugs.

In Jessica, are you supposed to loose all control if you go to the outside of the grid? I get her thing is she keeps making the same turn until you give the next command, but once I go to get the flag in the top left on the outside of the grid, I can't get her to do anything else. Am I missing something or is she bugging?

This was a great interpretation of the theme! I could see myself playing this on my phone... potentially turning it into using balance to steer on my phone.. Man! The reverse one would drive me crazy!

Developer

Jessica was supposed to move left all the time, forward if you pressed right and right if you pressed left. But some nasty bugs messed with our ability to achieve that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Eh, execution missed a little, but the idea of the game is great! I really do feel the loss of control within the theme.

You should definitely continue working on it and expand it. Maybe create some levels that are suited to only one of the drivers specialty. So, you have to pick the right driver to perform the upper levels correctly.

Developer

That is a great idea! Thank you for advice.

We had a lot of drafts for driver behaviors (such as "driver always stops, and only moves forward if you swear enough"), but ultimately did not manage to write them out.

Fun game i think you used the jam’s theme in a nice way! I liked the idea of not knowing your driver before trying it.

The game bugged for me after i unlocked the last character Elon and i couldn’t select any other driver anymore or get out of the choose driver screen in any way.

Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately, there are a lot of bugs as we were putting everything together in the last moment.

We probably will try to squash some of them at https://keepcalmgaming.github.io/gmtk2020/ but that will be a little later.

Just to spoil Elon for you: the gist of it was that none of your inputs would affect him, as he would be running an ideal route. No control at all :)
