Had some issues with confusing colors (a great deal of the green objects like the parasols looked cyan or very close to yellow on my screen), but that was quick to sort out. Also, depending on the combination of keys held down, most keyboards do not react too well and become unable to detect certain key presses - not sure if that was intended but on mine if I held G+V then the up arrow key would no longer be detected.
Other than those small issues, it's a cool, fun one - wish it was a little longer!
Cheers and congrats on the submission!
This game is super unique and a lot of fun! Awesome job! :D
I watched this in a couple of streams and saw people who never tried to collect multiple things which bothered me, I was really glad to learn I could. I really like this, you made it challenging but still not frustrating to complete. Only issue I ran into at all was a yellow truck that could be picked up from halfway across the map, it would literally come flying from off screen to join my current collected items. Only way I solved this was to run it to the edge of the map and let momentum drag it off into the void.
That was a bug that I discovered as well upon further playtesting (attracting the car tires would cause the main car to get magically attracted too :P) Great idea solving it and thanks for playing!
Cute game, loved the writing! I feel like the levels were a tad long for a jam context - if there's one thing I've learned from watching all the streams this week, it's that for a jam game you want to show the player your best ideas within a couple of minutes.
I didn't really understand (until I read the comments and looked closer at the thumbnail lol) that I should've been grabbing multiple things at once - this idea could definitely be communicated and tied to the core mechanics better I think, especially because I have a feeling this is where the game really shines. The most obvious way to do that is a time limit but there's definitely other ideas you could explore - anything that creates those risk / reward decision points for the player.
Great entry with some nice polish, congrats on getting it done!
Thanks for your feedback, I didn't anticipate players to do it one by one, that must have felt more like tedium than fun!
Planning to do the "gmtk thing" where I put two things close to each other such that players discover they can get sucked together. Was thinking of a time limit and a hard failstate to force that as well.
I saw this game in the gmtk live! Cool concept, i really like it, the game is pretty polished too! Rated! please check out my game too :D
Thanks for playing, Mark really laid it rough! I already downloaded your game, checking it out now!
great concept, the execution is well done. the game is fun but it seamed to me that the game couldn't detect when you press many keys at once
I think that's unity's fault (max 5 keys, didn't realize it until its too late :P) thanks for playing!
Being colorblind, the second level was pretty tough to play.^^' And pretty long too! Fetching 40 objects quickly becomes repetitive.
However the concept is very surprising at first, and pretty fun to discover. You try to scan everything, explore different possibilities... It's pretty smart! :) But it might be more fun to look for various objects rather than collecting a large amount of some. Finding what kind of objects were "green"(~ish, for me at least :p) was interesting! Gathering all of them, less so.
It's still a solid concept, with a nice presentation. Good work!
Ah dang - sorry for suffering through the second level! Might need to rethink how to do this for accessibility, maybe some shader. Can I check if you were picking multiple objects at one go? The second level was admittedly on the long side though.
Quite fun game, even if I didn't understand how the game fit the theme
Ah the theme is running out of fingers to control the UFO, but you could certainly do it one at a time :D Also the mess gets out of control after a while. Stretching the theme a little though :)
I got to kidnap trees. this is all I have ever wanted from a video game.
For real though, it was a quirky and fun little game, with a fun perspective on UFO kidnapping. Probably the green level may have been a bit long, and it would be cool to see other places, but obviously time's always a factor. This game had a very chill and laidback feel to it.
The only thing that I would say, I was hovering over a dumpster for ages, because in my particular dialect it might be called a bin or a skip or a tip etc. and I had to think what someone else might call it, and it took me a bit of thinking. I don't know how it could have been done any clearer though...
Edit: Also, I forgot, but the reading went by quite quickly. It might be a small gripe, but I didn't manage to read all of the text, especially in the earlier bit.
Ah, I think the spacebar to scan to get the names of objects wasn't too obvious. Hope you weren't guessing through most of the game :P Didn't realize we had a potential treekidnapper here, um police?? Thanks for playing!!
Cool idea! Love the concept, it reminded me on some mobile games! It makes me go YES!
YES yes, was looking to some mobile games for inspiration, haha. Thanks for checking out the game :D
Nice Idea I liked it !
Thanks for playing and glad you liked it :D
