Awesome game, the idea is pretty original and I was laughing hard from the upgrades the turtle gets. No turtle in a rocket is match for me though!
Very interesting gameplay and the art style fits very well with the music
Love the artwork first of all! those shoes are adorable! I'd love to see the jump somehow tied to the "connected" element as well.
Thanks for playing! This was our artist's first time making art for a jam, so I'm glad you loved their work!
This game is extremely fun and very fitting for the theme. The art is incredibly cute and the music fits the theming of the game and the art to a T. I hope you're all very proud of it!
Thanks Kezley! We're glad you enjoyed it!
Lol this is great!! Fantastic idea for the theme and very well done. Racing Tom was pretty fun, even on the moon. I was a bit sad though that I had to restart from the very beginning after losing the rocket race (jumped a little too short at one point). Nevertheless great job on this, very creative and properly executed!
Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, we originally had a level-select from the menu, and retries after losing. After discussion, though, we decided that, in a jam environment, it was more important that we put the player on a streamlined course where after losing a race you just advance to whatever's next. We decided to err on the side of the player sampling all of the levels, and all of the work our asset team produced, rather than having them play the same levels multiple times and risk them quitting or getting frustrated before seeing everything. But it's a good observation that that's unnecessary on the final race. In a "real" game version, we'd have a level select, and give players the option to either retry a race or go back to the menu.
Ah I see! That makes sense then. I wasn't sure if it was the last level or not, but having the player go on whether they win or lose makes sense in a jam. Good thinking!
I thoroughly enjoyed this! What a creative, fun little game! My only complaint is that it's entirely unfair that the turtle gets a rocket ship smh... Still beat its butt though! ;)
He's really just not a very good racer...
Glad you liked it! :)
