Very impressive for being made in Scratch! Also, we seem to have gotten the same idea, haha!

The game feels more like an easier bullet hell with an interesting snake enemy. The snake premise is pretty much in the background. It is very janky and very easy, so I couldn't enjoy it, but for some reason the simple art spoke to me.

Fun! But pretty easy to last a long time. I like throwing the apple and having it destroy a bunch of darts before the snake eats it, that's a cool mechanic.

wow, we had somewhat similar idea but different execution :D good game, I enjoyed it, my hs is 108

really good game, and also it is made in scratch.

I really liked the gameplay and the idea, I would play even more! Amazing art!! Great job!

Quite fun! Charming art-style and music. The concept is somewhat simple, just snake but reversed. But i think you implemented it really well

I had a good time with this :)  The idea is good and every object's movement speed is quite nice. Cooldown timer for apples feels good too.

Some glitches when the snake is directly over the apple and has to keep flipping backwards to reach it, but that's fine. I like the music, and if you keep working on this then a couple of sound effects for hitting the darts would make it feel more awesome, and a sound for when the timer cooldown has finished would be helpful.

The initial few seconds works well how you announce and introduce each element. Use that style again if you end up ramping up the difficulty throughout. It currently feels fun for about 40 seconds and then maybe it'd be good to get faster or a second snake or some other complication to add more pressure.

Thanks for the fun time :)

such a silly little game :) great job, gets a little repetitive and it's easy to survive for a long while but it's entertaining!

It's quirky, it's silly, and has nice gameplay!

I do agree that the difficulty curve could be touched on.

Overall not bad!

oh thank you!! i'm glad you enjoyed it. definitely taking this into consideration for the post-jam version :D

I like the visual vibe and the music! The gameplay is fun, it got a little samey after a while but enjoyed it! It would be cool if there was a way to get apples besides getting them automatically maybe

This is an interesting idea. There's a lot of little things I could nitpick, such as the snake's behavior if you throw the apple directly at it is really bizarre, but that's honestly really minor. The two big suggestions I have is a) add a final score screen that says "you got XXX points", as I won't necessarily see what my points counter was at when I die, and b) you need to have the difficulty ramp up more. I kinda overwhelmed the game with my strategy of "walk in a large circle", and ended up giving up instead of losing. Having something in there to act as a soft cap (eg, the enemy spawn rate becomes ridiculous) can help make this sort of game rather addicting to grind out high scores in.

Developer

thank you so much for your advice! i do wish i had added a spikier difficulty curve as you said, but i will definitely implement these ideas in the post-jam version!!

Submitted(+1)

cool, but the difficulty curve stops pretty quickly

Submitted(+1)

I think if you where an apple that shits out apples every few seconds that the game would be a lot better. Now I just ran in circles until I got a score of 300 without throwing apples.

The Idea is great, but I think that the presentation could be a bit bitter, also reloading the page to retry is inconvinient.

Submitted(+1)

Presentation-wise, I would be nicer to yourself. No one's gonna get excited about something if you call it a dumpster fire before they play it ^^

I would like the difficulty to scale up but I understand that might be difficult in a short timeframe.

i really appreciate this. this makes me feel a bit better about my game,  and you are right, so i've "re-noun-ed" it on the page.  thank you!

Pretty fun, I just with there was a little more clarity on the cooldown of when you can and can't use the apple

One of the best scratch games I saw so far. The graphics are really good, too.

I actually made this whole project solo. This was my first jam entry and I wasn't sure how to  work in a team for a limited time event like this, so I did the art, music, and code myself.
