How does your game fit the theme?
Instead of playing as the player, you play as the in-game character. Ordinarily the character takes all of the punishment for the player's actions, but in this case, you're the one being punished.

Oh wow this is so fun ! Wasn’t sure what to expect, but it definitely wasn’t this :D

While the gameplay and story were a bit confusing (and repetitive), I loved all the wordplay and little references in the text. Never knew you could do all this with IFs !

Overall a good entry, I’m close to the target audience so I really enjoyed it :D

This was interesting. I'm not sure it's quite my thing but it was still nice to play something different.

Very funny and truly unique, nothing like any game I've played this jam. Great work!

Very creative take on the theme!

Simple, fun and I liked how you mixed up the formula in the later fights.

Really creative game! Love the writing and humor. I found the context quite confusing for what my role as the player was, but it was fun to be along for the narrative!

Forgot to mention, your game was assigned via Review Swap from the Post Jam Productions Server :)

It's such a cool idea and really fun when played properly haha!

Great job!

Very interesting idea, was this made using Twine? Looks very similar.
It kept subversing my expectations, well done :)

It was! Glad you enjoyed the game!

I wish I didn't lose if I didn't hit the win button in time but it's an interesting idea, it took me awhile to get it tho not sure if it's the explanation or i somehow glossed over it.

Developer

In case you didn't read the description - that's a known bug. Thanks for playing!

A very unique text-based adventure game, it takes like truly crazy bold to create a game like this telling others about losing arms, legs, and head in real life. I like it.

Interesting idea, although it's too much of a hassle as is to understand/play/enjoy the game. Less text, more interactive elements, shorter and simpler sentences, also addition of some visuals would help. Just my 2 cents because I know how hard it is to pack all of them within 48 so no worries there :). It was very interesting to try to play the game with my elbow though. I like the way you think, keep going!

I vote for Monty Python +

Very different idea. I am not sure what I expected but I did spend more time reading and trying to pick out words than I thought I would. Good job!

Cool game, I'm not a fan of this type of gameplay, but this one was very interesting, I really liked it. Great Job!!!

I expected a slow game and i found somewhat caothic and funny, good job

The idea is nice but making it nearly only through text makes it very hard to follow if youre not a native speaker, maybe sum illustrationsd would go a long way

Developer

Yeah, unfortunately the limited time did not give me many opportunities to add accessibility options :(

If it's any help, you should be able to copy-paste any text you don't understand into google translate (outside of timed events, which are hopefully easier to understand?) I know that isn't a great answer but it might help a little.

Cool idea, but I think it's kind of "abstract" and difficult to follow, but maybe changing the way the limitations work could make it more fun, still, good work and congratulations!

This was really enjoyable. I found it easy to understand the machanic. Aside from the already known issue the only thing I found to be a "problem" was that you only seem to progress if you fail, and I understand the game is intentionally a positive feedback loop meaning the more you lose the easier it is to lose again. Unfortunately on day 2 of the game I was doing really well and so there was no progression.

Audio effects would go a long way for this, optional of course, and some work on the text presentation could really improve the game but overall this is an enjoyable premise and a nice mechanic coming out of the Monty Python joke.

Developer

Thanks for all your help testing this game!

I went back and forth on whether it should be possible to "win" and not lose body parts or not. I wanted crazy high scores to be possible with increased game knowledge. Seems like I probably made the wrong decision, since I forgot to consider the fact that on days following day one, you don't start out with any lost body parts. Potentially, making the player lose a random body part at the start of day 2 might have also been a good solution for this....food for thought, anyhow.

Audio is definitely something I'll be looking into after the jam. Unfortunately I ran into a really nasty bug with twine when I tried to add text effects to screens with time-based events: every time a time-based event happened, everything that wasn't the default color flashed white for a moment. Not totally sure how I can deal with that, but I'll report it to the engine's creators.

Again, thank you so much for all of your help! If you've ever got a game you need tested in the future I'd be happy to :)

Unique idea trying to achieve a different level of simulating feeling. But losing arms, legs, and head irl is just "too insane" to be realistic and achieve. Since it is a heavy text-based game now, instead of a dense paragraph, using dialogues with highlights should help the player gather information.

Really unique idea, and it fits quite nicely with the theme!
