After walking around the map for a bit i can confirm, that really is one of the camps ever.

But quite fun and chill game! Not 100% sure on how much it fits the theme. But i really like that it isn't 'this game is game X but now YOU are the villain/game/npc!'. So i would call this a fun and creative use of the theme!

Also you have my respect for actually making a 3d game and assets, something i haven't yet been brave enough for. Downloading blender as the jam starts sounds like insanity to me, but you really made it work!

Oh programmer art for sure! But still very charming art. I have also drawn dozens of simple guy's with a red shirt and blue pants as quick programmer art. So maybe that's why i enjoy it so much.

Thank you! I am glad to hear that you liked the aesthetics.

I fully agree with you on the camera. Holding left shift makes it move a bit quicker. But in retrospect i should have made that the default speed. Having the hero be difficult was somewhat on purpose and it is possible to defeat him. But having it be this difficult was not really my intention.

Both issues are mostly caused by a lack of play testing. Definitely something i am going to keep in mind during my next game jam!

I like! Playing as a good little NPC is a fun experience. But trying to get the hero killed is a really nice challenge with a fun role reversal. The usage of art and inclusion of an opening screen, settings menu and having multiple endings also makes for a very complete and polished experience.

Very well done and a solid entry!

I feel you. My victory screen doesn't work because i forgot to couple a unity event

Very well made! Fun idea with a good execution. Art and music really sets the moods. I like the guards voice acting. They do feel like they are really bad at their job, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. It does create a fun, but sometimes somewhat frustrating, challenge.

Really great art style! I love the use of a 'physical UI'. The way you get your payout is also really fun and satisfying. Definitely a good prototype you can build further on.

There does appear to be a problem with the coin bag, at least for me. In the screen shots i can see there should be a coin counter on the bags. But i could only see some unreadable white text. Luckily it's possible to just physically count my coins by taking them out the bag, which is a fun workaround.

Thank you for your feedback! I am not at all surprised that you were lost at first. I decided to not spend any time on having a tutorial and instead just displaying all that information on the game page. Not realizing that most people will only see the jam submission page. Definitely a good lesson for next time!

And i completely agree on you with balancing. Right now it's all sorts of wack. But indeed not because of the damage numbers. Some players manage to defeat him just fine. I am planning on a small post game jam update to improve and fix some things. I am definitely going to take your suggestions into account. I want to give the player a bit more control over the units without just turning it into a RTS. Multiple spawn points or some simple pathing options could be great for this.

Thank you! Honestly i had to take some risky short-cuts (like spending no time on play-testing) to get it to work. And i really like the idea you and your team decided to go with instead!

Thank you! Originally you could bank your money. But i figured that removing that feature forced the player to actually send continues waves, instead of just 1 giant wave.

It's a bit unintuitive, so i should probably have explained that somewhere in the game. But, ya know, this gamejam i discovered that 48 hours really isn't a lot of time!

Thank you! Yeah game-length could really use some tweaking. Either by adding more stuff to justify the length, or by shortening the game by a couple of minutes

(1 edit)

Really fun! The goal being to make the players ragequit is also a really creative idea. Being able to stop time to place traps is also a very nice feature

A fun experience! The game doesn't really have a lot of depth, but the interactions with the game dev are quite fun! The way the game ends when you win is just perfect.

A surprisingly cute, creative and funny experience. Everything about the presentation, including the cover image, helps with delivering a simple but enjoyable punch line.

I used to play a lot of Crossy Road, so this was a lot of fun to play. Everything from effects, music and art is very polished. Driving over a horde of chickens with a drifting semi-truck also feels disturbingly satisfying

Really creative idea! Gameplay is imperfect but still really enjoyable. Having to fish race-cars out of the water, to then see them immediately drive back into the sea, is quite the experience. Makes me have a lot more respect for Lakitu

Thank you!

Thank you! I am actually surprised people have managed to defeat the boss. I thought i accidentally made him impossible to beat. Turns out i am just terrible at my own game!

Haha, you are welcome! I gotta admit, my first instinct was to just type 'SUPER COLD' in all caps over and over again. But i figured that some nice feedback and a terrible pun would be more appreciated :P

Really charming game! Controlling and switching between the Goombas works really well. Maybe the art looks a bit simple compared to other submissions. But i quite like it. Especially the faces of the Goombas and Jumping Man.

All combined makes for a really enjoyable experience

Looks great! Really fits the theme. Surprisingly difficult to keep track of the score, but it's a fun challenge. Really good submission!

Button layout feels a bit weird? I think it's because the buttons are very far apart. Maybe it could be improved by remapping it to:
[1] +50
[2] +100
[3] +200
But that could also bring it's own issues.

Quite fun! Charming art-style and music. The concept is somewhat simple, just snake but reversed. But i think you implemented it really well

This one is Super Cool. Good concept, well polished and challenging but not impossible Puzzles

Really fun concept! I send a level 60 adventurer called 'bearlinwall' to the forest to collect 3 rings. Somehow that killed him. So 10/10 game for me.

But seriously. It's really fun to try to give the adventurers quests that both fit their character and don't bankrupt you

Really fun wario ware like mini-games! Fun use of the theme and the art-style also seems quite fitting. However i can't get the blender to work. Maybe it's bugged? Or i just don't know how blenders work

Really enjoyable and good looking game! I love how the hero gains XP and becomes stronger over time.

Really great art-style! The gameplay is a clever take on the theme

Thank you! Yeah i didn't have time to implement a propper audio system. So now the game turns into a bit of a noise music album at later stages.

And nothing happening after Sir Gilleon dies is definitely a bug, it should show a victory screen. But i just checked, and it looks like i completely forgot to call the function that actually does this. Oops. But thanks for letting me know!

I really like the 'Take the fight to them' idea. Seeing the screen rotating for the first time was also a lot of fun. Maybe moving the white 'bunkers' to the aliens side during the reversal stage could be a way to make it feel more like a 'role reversal'

I really like the concept of using the enemies ability as a helpful tool

Honestly, the face of the basic soldier really sold me on this game. I quite like the limited unit selection per level, makes it feel like a puzzle game. I think the game has a really fun concept, and could turn into a excellent experience if it's expanded upon.

Also you have my respect for making a 3d game, with self made assets, within 48 hours.

Not the first 'you are the maze' game i have seen. But definitely my favorite! Really creative and clever execution

I checked and play tested some stuff. And currently the game might be impossible to beat. Sir Gilleon simply has about 20k health too much.

So remember: the game might say that you have lost, but you are still a winner in my book :)
Especially if you managed to get Sir Gilleon bellow 20k Health
