Love the concept! I feel like the card gets grabbed a little too fast since you’re parsing a new layout on the left AND trying to find the correct information each time. Still a solid entry!
Heh, this was a fun little breather! In true anime fashion, I was behind 0-2, but made a grand comeback and won 3-2 in the end. Thanks for the laugh! :D
Love me some YuGiOh references! Really well-done art. This game is pretty hard, adding an extra 1 second or so to the time limit to play a card would probably help. Fun game nonetheless though!
Cool to see some more love for children's card games! It's a simple gameplay loop, but the challenge comes from the speed needed to stack the deck. Good work!
Reminded me a lot of this other submission: "My Deck Has No Cards!"
Just like in that game, I enjoyed the silly references and nice art!
Thank you for the nice feedback :)
And thanks for the reference, great to see how others approached a similar idea :D
I'm a sucker for anime parodies so I really enjoyed how you used tropes as part of your design. The character dialogues work well to prompt the player and the randomly generated names are a fun nod to the type of nonsense you see in Yu-Gi-Oh! cards.
My only complaint is that there is no sense of progression. For a moment I wasn't sure if the game would end or if it would just keep generating prompts forever. Showing the characers' life points would have solved that problem imo.
If you're interested in expanding the concept outside of the jam I would love to see some sort of story mode, maybe with scripted duels?
Thank you for the nice feedback and the great suggestions. You are right and we will keep them in mind.
Happy that the fun we had when creating the names translates to others :)
I liked the theme, and the character art. I'm a bit disappointed by the gameplay, as it is not that interesting, to be honest. Sometimes it even feels a bit unfair when the asked for word is barely visible.
Thanks a lot for the honest feedback! It helps considering it for improvements for future projects.
