I love the art, it's simple but way optimised the mechanics. The idea is also unique and well executed. The game is engaging with good visual and sound effects. Well done!
Really nice. I love the retro TV effect - very appropriate for this kind of arcade game.
Nice to see another take on asteroids! This was good fun. Using the tiny asteroid as a shield was a nice touch that I didn't see in many other asteroids-like games. The glow + blur + distortion when moving fast was a bit much though. Maybe I would tone some of that down.
Thanks for the feedback! You can disable the post-processing effects in the options inside the game (just in case you're wondering). :)
Pretty fun! It took me a while to realize I could spawn the smaller asteroids I'd been gathering, which helped quite a bit. The difficulty scaling was nice, with it getting quite hectic towards the end.
Thanks for the reply! I'm glad you enjoyed it, you can view the controls in the game's description :)
Very well executed, cool idea and plays well. good job!
It's really fun and creative and looks good too. The gameplay is also fun and it's fun to dodge the bullets. If you are planning to expand on this after GMTK I would suggest there should be some other stuff, to keep the player engaged. like after 1 min I got a bit bored and it was very easy to keep continuing. but when I found the edge of the map my interest spiked. just got something new. so for fun a when around all edges. but after that, there is nothing new to experience.. but it was a 2-day jam so of course. but if you want to expand on this in the future, as a player I would want more engagement and things to look forward to while playing.
Best of luck :)
Really nice idea! simple graphics combined with interesting gameplay gives a good experience.
Really cool game! I like the post-processing effect too. A completely different take to my game on using the original Asteroids for inspiration!
Unfortunately my monitor aspect ratio is weird and i could not get full visibility in the game. However, what I experienced was fun. Good work!
Nice idea and realisation. Love arcadeness of this game.I feel like when there are a lot of ships game becomes a bit unfair, because they attack from all sides at once and you don't really have instruments to deal with it. But it's still very fun game
Very fun!
A fun game overall. I like how it scales the difficulty by throwing more ships at you at the same time, forcing you to multi-task and prioritise threats. I feel like there is no other way to approach and destroy a ship other than using one of the floating rock abilities, which when you have none, basically makes it impossible to destroy ships without finding another one. Although this is a minor problem, and running away was actually kind of fun.
I do enjoy how the ships seem to speed up and fire more when far away. It makes each new ship more of a threat, and also makes running away far more intense.
A small suggestion (not really important) is maybe there could've been some way to use the other asteroids? Maybe they could have been used as cover, or pushed towards the players to destroy them even without a weapon. It would give the player another option to fight back. Then again, it already is quite fun.
Thank you so much for your reply, I really appreciate it! Funny enough, I did want to implement all of the things you mentioned (regarding the improvement of my game) but I just didnt have enough time and ideas to really balance all of the aspects evenly.
Makes sense, game jams are always quite a bit of a crunch.
