The presentation is great! The 2D artwork integrated really well into the 3D world, and I like the characterisation in the environment design, particularly the room you start in. Would have been even better if you could interact with some of the set dressing with your tongue e.g. switching tracks on the boombox, opening the wardrobe etc. The music sets the tone really well and the sound FX are well done too, just missing a licking/slurping sound for the tongue! I think the use of the 2D animatic cutaways for death was a great and novel way of injecting style into gameplay, the closest thing to it I could think of were the die-o-ramas in Crash Tag Team Racing.
Really the biggest shame is that your core mechanic seems to be bugged, as I think others have pointed out your jump scales with each jump you make, and in fact eating flies resets your jump! Having said that I think this has great potential post-jam, it scratches that kind of Sludge Life itch so I'll be keeping an eye out!
Absolutely fantastic art style and unique platforming concept. Found some of the slippery root surfaces a little tricky and the checkpoint in the cave a bit unforgiving, but a really excellent entry all around!!
Got stuck on the settings menu unable to quit while my antivirus worked overtime deleting files like crazy. I'd like to test it more, but I'm sort of terrified right now.
I loved the art and music. I would totally go see The Snails in concert.
The level design and mechanics though were pretty impenetrable. The first few jumps/ platforms should have been much more easy and obvious. Also the mechanic of the jump height increasing should have been explained better in-game.
After failing to jump to anything from the house, I ended up going on the root around the edge of the house onto the roof. Then I was jumping so high I couldn't land on the small distant lily pads.
I would loved to play and see more if I could have. The house was decorated so nicely.
So much fun. Love your idea! :)
Love the music selection. Had to turn it down unfortunately in the menu. So I could hear that beautiful buzzing. Which I hope was made with your voice.
Okay, so you're telling me in 96 hours a group of people built an not half-bad looking 3d open world game? You people have truly created an experience.
Holy crap that party was lit
very difficult and strange game but graphics is too cool. i cant heard sound xD
My first rave experience.
First off the music and sound is absolutely phenomenal, so many tracks and audio cues that set the experience.
I really like how 2D and 3D assets are used together and all the little secret npcs.
The jumping mechanics remind me of cs surf which is really smooth
Noice game!1!
