Cool game! Cooler art!!
Thanks for playing! And yes, more shout outs to the amazing artists that did some heavy lifting with the art! Credits on the game’s page.
Interesting game.
It took me a while to actually understand what you are meant to do in the game. I'd die by shooting and die by getting shot, it made very little sense.
Eventually I figured out bullets only kill you if you have 5 shots and that otherwise you actually want to get shot to gain ammo.
I'd recommend giving more visual feedback towards the danger states of having too much/little ammo. For example the ammo could slowly flash red at 4 ammo and faster at 5, then slowly flash blue at 2 ammo and quickly at 1. It would help players develop an association between their ammo and why they died.
In addition due to the chaotic nature of triggering chain reactions; much like how you flash for a short time before dying when out of ammo, I'd recommend something similar for when you have too much. Maybe give less time since its easier to just shoot than have to collect a fast moving bullet, but I feel it would help to have a small grace window before instantly dying when full on ammo.
Overall a decent submission with a lot of style, just could do with a bit better visual feedback to help understand the game's mechanics.
Thank you for playing! Appreciate some of the comments for the visual feedback and “juice” that could be added to the gameplay. I may consider those in the future updates.
Once again, I want to give a shout out to the art team for their amazing efforts on the game’s style.
The UI and art style feels very polished already! Love the funky art direction you are going with. Gameplay reminded me of old flash based games I played during school break. Really cool splash screen man. Great job with this one! :)
Thank you for playing!
I must give a shout out to the art director Imp_blues (that’s his twitter handle), he gave us clear instructions for how the art should look. Heck he even gave nice mockups for me to set up the UI quickly, he was an MVP alongside my other teammates in the art team and the other areas of the game.
I did not understand at first, but when I did, it was really cool! It feels like being in a nuclear reactor with all the chain reactions!
Is the background supposed to be the CMB? That is a great idea!
Thank you for playing! I love your head canon about the background, it doesn’t have a direct “explanation” so to speak. But it’s more like a weird abstract quantum background.
Amazing art for the result and title screens! It reminds me of old flash games in the best way possible. Gameplay was a bit confusing as first, found myself dying to either having too many neurons or by running out of neurons a lot.
Thank you for playing! c: I think the old flash game was a happy accident, although some of the inspirations by the art team comes from very “retro” games.
cool idea, not quite sure how it fits the theme but I can kind of see it. It was a bit hard to get used to but maybe thats a skill issue XD.
Thank you for playing! I think I left it still kinda hard, but I hope you enjoyed it :)
We went for more of a “game story” approach to the jam’s theme: An atom causing a big explosion!
Wow that's a nice idea you had! That chain reaction effect is super satisfying when you pull it off. Maybe lacks a bit of variety in the gameplay, but again, 4 days is not much haha
Thank you for your playing! Indeed, some ideas for the gameplay were left behind for simplicity and time’s sake. I may add some later, but it’s still not sure.
