This game is quite cool I liked the commination of a tower game and a spaceship shooter it can be quite hectic to balance attacking outside and inside your ship but it was fun! :)

I think this is a cool idea to combine two different gameplay mechanics in this inside/outside way, very creative. As others mentioned it is a bit hectic, but that might be intended and isn't as bad once I knew what to do.

Very interesting choice of genre combination. I'm not entirely on board with how the combat works though. What if instead of two separate games (the top down shooter outside the ship and tower defense inside), the aim of the game was to board enemy ships with raiders while they do the same to you? That way there would be more cohesion between the two distinct elements and would open up the possibility for a variety of play styles (do you prioritize interior defense, or are you going to focus on destroying the raiders before they can board?). Currently there's not much choice, you always have to focus on the interior a certain amount, or else you lose.

It's still a pretty well made game, I just think it could be developed into something much bigger, maybe sometime after the jam.

thanks for the feedback! i actually had an idea to make player be able to impact what small ships appear inside enemies and vice versa (so besides just shooting the enemy, player can look into what weakness does enemy have inside and launch appropriate ships into them). but due to jam being 4 days long, i had to abandon this idea. if i will work on this after the jam, i will definitely add your suggestion

I like the idea of this, and I enjoy how hectic it can be. Having to balance your resource spending between two fronts is a fun concept!

A few things that I think might improve the gameplay:

  • I found it a bit awkward to fire and move with my left hand, if the external guns fired automatically it'd be a lot easier to control (or even toggle fire, if there's ever a reason to not fire your turrets).
  • It's quite hard to keep track of what's going on outside and what's going on inside, which I'm fine with being a challenge, BUT then the UI is at the edges of the screen so you end up looking at health which I feel makes more difficult. Having a healbar on your core, and maybe even the coin count on your ship might be nicer.

Fun and fast game, liked the scaling and control. Maybe make towers on the outside shoot farther and faster projectiles? Ship fight is seriously harder than td part. Overall great execution, congrats!

Really love the idea, although I agree with spejoku that it is kind of hard to focus on both at the same time. I think a wave structure could work really well. Still very fun, I would actually play a full game of this.

i like the idea of a sort of real-time FTL kinda idea, but I found it difficult to properly place towers while dodging external enemies. I would've appreciated a sort of safe zone in space or pause, so that the player could place at least starter towers in peace, but that might go against the entire concept of placing towers and guns while under fire.

thanks for the idea of safe zone.

placing towers while under fire wasnt really the idea. i guess i made enemy spawns to fast ahah
