This was really fun! Big FTL vibes. I think the enemy AI could stand to be improved a bit, but it never did anything too bad. I would also say that the game speed could be upped a bit. The turn walkthrough was great for the first fight, but after that it just feels like an unnecessary delay. Great work regardless, though - I had fun with this one!

Great concept and easy to understand and play.  Not sure randomness is accurate as one roll I have 5 5's and the enemy ship has 4 2's.  Overall, very impressive for 48 hours.

Developer

Oh did that happen every dice roll? I guess there is a chance that could happen with dice, but not every roll.

Thanks for playing

I loved it, it reminds me a lot of Tharsis!

I found a few things in case you expand on it:

  • When speed are equal the enemy attacks first
  • The fight resolution is a bit slow and it'd be cool to have some lasers and explosions
  • Maybe show the enemy move first so I can plan
  • When I have multiple damage dices, only the last damage is shown at the bottom
  • Sometimes the damage from the enemy still happens even if I had higher speed and killed them on that turn which makes the speed irrelevant then, maybe just a bug
  • Some music and SFX would be nice too (I use bxfr and Chrome Music Lab to generate them quickly, both have)

And if you expand on it, I'd quite possibly buy it, amazing job!

Developer

Oh, never played that. I should have a look at it.

Yeah I have found a few bugs/optimisations I would like to add, but can't because of the voting lockout.

Most of those are fixed, just cant upload it :(

Thanks for the awesome feedback and playing my game

Very Good! it would be cool to see this concept expanded with more features, music/sounds etc

Developer

Yeah, there is lots I would have liked to have added, I would have liked to add different sorts of dice.

Thanks for playing

Cool idea, but I think it could use some music/sfx.

Developer

Thanks, yep would have been good to add, but ran out of time.

Thanks for playing

My dice are working fine luckily! Anyway, I think this game is very creative and original and differenciate well from others.

Thanks for the feedback and playing my game.

Well... All my dice always end up with the same value, which is either 6 or 4 (10 times in a row by now). I mean, I'm not complaining, at least my win rate is high! ^^ But it's too bad I can't really play any strategy :c

This little bug aside, I love that game! A great idea, with a very good execution. Plus, there's a lot of strategy to think about: do I want to survive, or to deal a huge shot with high speed? What if the ennemy uses a lot of shield? Or higher speed than mine? Etc etc...

And the prizes at the end of the battles are the cherry on top.
Personnally, I would have added the dice to the prize pool instead of adding them automatically with each new ship slot, so that you could have more dice than slots (to pick only the better ones) or more slots than dice (to allow better stats management).

Great idea, very inspiring, and well made. It only lacks sounds for a perfect note! Excellent job! =D

How often did that happen? How many sockets did you have available?

I have had it a couple of rolls, but most rolls are different numbers.  I guess that is just how dice work.

The extra dice is interesting, I hadn't considered that.

If I had time I wanted to add different types of dice other than the standard 1-6 dice.

Submitted(+1)

It happened 10 times in a row, no matter the sockets' quantity. Then I refreshed the page, and it was stuck to only 4s.
I retried this morning and it happened again, this time with 3s and 6s:

I'm not seeing anyone with the same problem in the comments, so I'm not sure why it happens?
But I'm not counting this bug towards the rating, since I'm more focused on the idea and execution, don't worry ^^

Interesting. Out of interest what browser are you using? Have you tried a separate one?

I know it will probably not be great, but you could try on your phone otherwise too.

Sorry it is doing that, it would obvously be a lot more enjoyable if they were coming up differently.

I'm using Firefox.

I just tried on Chrome, and it works fine there, I'll be able to play it! =D
(now, why I didn't think of trying that, when I'm a Web integrator, is beyond me '^' )

Developer(+1)

Haha, glad that fixed it. Not sure why it does that in Firefox....

Great concept!

The game is in strong need of sounds and music, but the idea itself is very fun.

Developer(+1)

Yeah I always run out of time to get sound/music in. Thanks for playing

Submitted(+1)

There were no sound so I used Ascent OST so that it's not as eerie as it sounds.

Developer

Yeah, sound isn't my strong suit and I wanted to focus on the main mechanics. Maybe next time I will get some in.

Thanks for playing though

If you need it I can make music for you. I'll plan making music using Pico-8, so if you need me, I guess you know who to ask.

I love the mix of the Theme and the FTL style gameplay!

Developer

Thanks, it does unintentionally give that FTL vibe.
