This is a really good idea that's executed pretty well, although the basic fighting stuff could use some fine tuning to make it more enjoyable and fun.

Though the mechanics of the rolling are really well done, and there is a lot of potential with maybe different kind of die that do slightly different things perhaps, like make your attack range larger or something.

If you decide to develop the game further, it has a ton of potential for becoming something amazing.

Thank you for the great feedback!

We are thinking about ways we can improve the combat system currently and you have given us some great suggestions to consider! :)

I'll make sure to give you a heads up if we upload a new and improved version!

Really cool idea and I like the concept and controls a ton, there's lots of potential. One thing I think can help take it to the next level after jam is set up a dummy Player1 can hit, and experiment with the animations of the attacks so that they feel more fluid and juicy, maybe not so much startup, but a bunch of recovery time after instead. Studying fighting game animations also helps with this. Example is Potemkin's biggest normal attack in Guilty Gear, he's the biggest character, and it's his biggest attack, he puts his whole body in it! And there is only 23 startup frames 5 active frames 29 recovery frames, way less than I'd expect. Awesome work and congrats on finishing the jam!

Glad you enjoyed our game!

Having a dummy character sounds like a good idea :) Perhaps even an entire practice scene.

Totally agree regarding the attack, it is lacking juice and we will mess around with it until it feels better ;)

genius idea allowing the user to customize their build and also having the dodge be a die roll too. really hammers in the risk vs reward!

Developer

Thank you very much!

What a cool game! I love how the dodge roll (I see what you did there) is multipurpose, and it can either benefit you or disadvantage you to roll out of the way. I had a lot of fun getting bullied by poker chips

Thanks! Yeah I agree the coin enemies turned out quite challenging :D // theheheo

Very ambitious for a game jam. Nice work!

Developer

Thank you very much! Your submission was quite ambitious as well ;)

I had a bug... text on buttons become invisible because of that I clicked restart button by accident :(
Otherwise its a fun fighting game but I think you can explain how to play a bit better Nice work ^^

Developer

The bug is a real shame, we will look into it!
Super glad you could still enjoy the game despite the bug :D
We will try and give the player a bit clearer feedback on what you are supposed to/can do!

Nice Idea. This game has potential. You should add more feature after jam.  Also casino token enemy is too difficult.

Developer(+1)

Agreed! We have a bunch of ideas for how we can expand and improve the game and we'd really like to make a post-jam version if we're able to :)

(I also struggle with the token enemy...
😅)

I enjoyed it man a interesting take on the dice which could have used maybe some UI explaining a little more! That being said given the time constraints and working by yourself a solid effort! BE PROUD!

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much! Although, we were a team of 4 people making this game😅

I lknow the turmoil of game dev, the very fact that you all made it and got it in is worth celebrating in itself!!
