How does your game fit the theme?
When moving, the player gets to pick a direction and a die is rolled to see how far in that direction he moves. So the player picks the direction but doesn't know how far in that direction he'll go.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I uploaded a youtube video on how I made this game. It's on the game page, so check it out if you're interested!
Fun concept in theory, but the game kept locking up for me and idk why :(
Thanks for playing and leaving a comment! What do you mean by locking up? There's a bug where when you enter the menu screen from the game or the tutorial, the battle button doesn't work. Is that what you're talking about? Because if so, you just need to refresh the page. Sorry!
Dear Will Hess!
The game mechanics were really easy to get grasp and even if they are really random as the title promised, it did not ruin the fun for me. One thing keeps bugging me. Why are the Mortys fighting? Where are the Ricks?
Well done overall, good job. Now keep on jaming!
Thanks for playing! The reason there are no Ricks is that I had no clue I made a bunch of Mortys. I am aware of the show but have never seen an episode lol. I just put a bunch of circles together and hoped for the best!
First grid based battle royale game I played till now. I didn't read the tutorial and went into battle immediately when I started the game but I feel its easy to understand the rules. I think the turn based combat system great potential. Giving rewards to players when they make a kill or robbing the enemy's equipment like in other games may make the players more aggressive and involved.
Anyway it's amazing to finish all these work in 48 hours:) I enjoyed this game and it may become a fun party game if multiplayer is available.
Thanks for the kind words! One of the very next things I was going to add to the game was more weapons and picking up the weapons from the enemies you kill lol.
The tile based combat is very enjoyable but some things are kind of buggy, such as how you can keep rolling the dice forever to see what you would have gotten next and stuff, also how come you can attack then move? I feel like that was a little overpowered and also sometimes I can move twice but idk why. Great job on the aggressive bots, fun gameplay, and adherence to the theme.
Thanks for playing! There were quite a few bugs I’m aware of but just didn’t have time to fix. The moving after attacking was mainly for two reasons. 1) so the bots don’t just stand face to face stabbing each other until one dies and the other is low health and 2) to try and encourage the player to be more involved and not hide in a corner all game. Mainly the first reason though. The bots were a lot harder to program than I first thought, but I remember before I gave them the flee ability after attacking they just stood there face to face stabbing each other. If you open a chest I also thought you could have another move so you have a chance to pick up the item if you need to and not have a bot swoop in stab you and steal your gun from the chest. I’m happy you enjoyed!
I liked it.
I get struggled to understand the mechanics even after reading the tutorial, but I get it after some time playing it.
Thanks for playing! I agree its definitely a little confusing and the tutorial could be better. As I was making the tutorial I was literally shaking with nervousness that I wasn’t going to finish in time so it was very rushed. Glad you got it though!
Making a game in 48h is hell, but totally worth it!
I think everybody had the same anxiety at the finishing line. I submitted my game almost 3h before the finishing time because in 2020 and 2021 the itch io server crashed at the last hour of GMTK Jam.
At the time I uploaded, the jam had almost 1500 submissions. More then 5000 games was uploaded after that! It is wild!!
Wow, I never even considered that happening. This is my first time doing a GMTK Jam, but I know I would be absolutely crushed if I spent 48 hours making a game and then not being able to submit it because of the servers crashing. Glad it didn't happen this time lol!
A very creative game - I had a lot of fun moving my Morty to kill all the other Mortys (yes, that's what I'm calling them)! I think the body part combat system has a lot of potential :) Great stuff!
Thank you so much! I wish the body part combat system was completely original, but I took HEAVY inspiration from vats in the fallout games. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
