I enjoyed the game, which is nice and elegant. Well explained controls and aim. The levels introduce new mechanics and I can only imagine where further developments would lead.

Thank you very much, you're too kind. I'm currently working on a programming-puzzle game, but after that I'll revisit this jam prototype.

probably would be better with either more puzzles or more mechanics, as this does not have much to do with dice except that they are six types of boxes

Developer

I had planned more levels and rolling the box instead when pushed, changing its value, but as my first game that was too optimistic in 48 hours. Thanks for trying it.

you're welcome!

a very good game the only inconvenient is that there are too few levels but I like the puzzle idea.

Although you totally have way too few levels (understandable with time restraints), I really see the potential in this game! I love little puzzle games like this and can get stuck playing them for hours. I also appreciate how clean your menus were. Some games have wickedly messy menu systems, but yours was clear and understandable.

Couple minor suggestions: If you could somehow involve the dice aspect a bit more than just having the pictures of the cubes correspond to the faces on a dice, that could add a whole new dimension to the game! Also, I noticed you mentioned sound in the credits, but I didn't hear any. If this wasn't an issue on my end and you had no music or sound, I'd hugely suggest you utilize it for the next game jam. Music and sound bring a game to life when used well and are able to tell a story completely on their own.

Overall, I see the work that was put into this and I think it's a great starting place for a fantastic game. As we all develop as programmers, the time restraint will weigh on us less and we will be able to add more features! Great job!

Thank you so much. I had the worst level implementation and drained a lot of time, hence no time for sounds and levels. I did the last level 30 minutes before the submit deadline. I do have a new mechanic for this game in mind: instead of pushing the box, you roll it as it is too heavy thus the dice value changes. I don't know if it makes it trivial on levels with more boxes and goals, if now you can push any box to any goal, as long as the final side of the dice matches.

Ahh, I see what you're saying with that idea. I like it actually. Because with that mechanic then you could add in more that surrounds that idea. Things like if the total of the face-up faces exceeds some number you lose, or if you have two of the same face showing in the room then you could lose or have something trigger. Lots of different events could occur based around the dice's faces showing at one time. I definitely think it would add a new layer to your game!

It is unfortunate that you could do just feel levels.

I would like to see some progressive puzzles. The idea is great!

Thank you, The level implementation in my code was very hacky, big lesson learned, which contributed to me spending many hours more than I anticipated. If I think of another interesting mechanic, I'll update it with more levels too. As first game, I'm glad I had something.

Wow! That was your first game?!

You should be very proud to start at a 48h game jam as big as GMTK! It is a giant challenge!

My first game was a 3 weeks project, and I was not happy with the result, so I never published it.

I'm glad to have the opportunity to play your first one! =)

very fun game too bad there's no sound ^^. What's the less move possible on level ?

https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-jam-2022/rate/1619517 if you want to try our game :)

Developer

Thank you. Yes, I know, but didn't have time unfortunately. I wanted to try your game, but I am on Linux.

For the last level, the only semi-complicated one, you can do it in under 95 moves, but don't know the best possible.

neat! would have loved some music

Developer(+1)

Thanks. Would have loved to add it too, but I struggled a lot with tilesets and bugs, this is my first game. By the time I also managed to export it correctly, there were only 15 minutes left. I still have to learn how to add sounds btw :)
